been doing a few things on the Z but I think what fixed it was replacing the air regulator hose, I found it was split through sheer luck despite buying a compressor and running multiple boost leak tests both at home and at Scotty's. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more leaks as this shows you can't always hear them.
I was finding boost leaks not so long ago and the same hose we found was split and the soapy water test confirmed it was leaking but no way could you just hear it from a blow up test. Soapy water in a squirt bottle and a blow up test kit are you best friends
Re: the top one my one of those is split too, just up till under the hose clamp. so i taped it and put it back on where did you get the pipe from?
i read something interesting... Read right down the bottom here Mines an 89 registered in 90, I hope this is not the problem with mine. So all those hoses you got in the pic Mike, there only for the twin-turbo version hey...
Re: i read something interesting... yeah i read that when i was trying to find my hesitation problems.. mine turned out to be something that wasnt documented anywhere i think that is for US delivered only as i couldnt find reference to that anywhere else
I switched with regular hose but.. got one coming from Nissan for $40! cos the hose I replaced it with doesn't quite sit right due to the way it bends, maybe if it were more flexible it'd be ok though. It seems you should pull that hose towards the balance pipe rather than the other way as it's tapered and probably caused the split after pulling it a few times.
Re: soapy water It's an old trick of the trade commonly used by welders and gas fitters. Mix up some dishwashing liquid and water into a squirty bottle or in a jam jar or the like and use a paint brush, but I find a squirty bottle is easier. Do the blow up test as in the tech section and when you spray or brush the soapy water onto the suspect area it bubbles up like no tomorrow. You can then easily see exactly where the hole is.
