Would it be advisable to only use OEM o-rings for the injectors?

Any particular reasons? Also does anyone know of alternate ones of the right size?

    nope.

Just go down to your local bearing/seal/hydraulic shop and get some normal o rings. Cheap as chips. There's nothing special about them. I've done mine before.

I wouldn't just get any kind - I'd ask for Viton ones so they can

withstand some ethanol in the fuel.

    Hrm...

Gotten my books out on this...
My trusty CR book lists Viton as suitable with ethanol in a "static situation". Which is fine for injectors. However my NAK (seal) book, lists Viton as being unsuitable for this application.
CR says nitrile is ok. And NAK says "fair".
I stuck with standard nitrile and haven't had a problem. (So far ;))

    What is the temperature rating

    Of nitrile O rings & viton O rings ?

    temps..

Nitrile is good to about 105-110 degrees C
Viton to about 280 degrees C.
    Pretty sure that's accurate.

Guys, does anyone know what size the upper and lower o-rings are ?

    dunno

but I just took my old injector with the o-rings to the auto shop with me to match up, I've still got them here if you'd rather organise it first. They actually suggested a slightly smaller o-ring for the top of the injector as it moved around pretty easy but I stuck with the same size since I figured it probably seals on the top lip rather than on the inside of the o-ring anyway and you don't want to risk any kind of nick while pulling it over the filter section.

Mike are you able to just measure the ID and OD and thickness of them?

    O-rings for injectors 16x21x2.5 & 20x27x3.5 (6 of each)

I've got a suspected leaking injector.
So I went into repco today and asked for O-rings for a Z32.

and this is what I got:

    3 Packets of OR 9304 & 3 Packets of 9305's.

The brand is Jayair. The "Automotive air conditiong parts" Makes me think I have been given the wrong thing.

Anyone know if these are the right thing.

Did you ask for just o-rings or specifically injector o-rings?

I know the injector seals are expensive but I am not sure that O rings will

    suffice in that application.

The OEM ones are of a square cross-section and about 4 mm square. The preload on those seals is already fixed because the injector is on a fixed mount and unless you can get an o ring that diameter then you will be looking at induction leaks for sure. IMHO:rolleyes:

Can you give part numbers for these seals?

I have recently order a complete set of injector O-rings (upper and lower) as well as insulators (upper and lower), I paid under US$40 for the lot. I am just wondering if there is something else I require?

Re: Can you give part numbers for these seals?

Yeah I defiently asked for injector O-ring's

    What are insulators? :(

I specified the sizes DinoZ mentioned.
    16x21x2.5 & 20x27x3.5 (6 of each)

And that's what I got. I really wanted the high temp vitton ones Chewy refered too.

Insulators are the 'O' rings that sit in the lower plenum

As Luig says - If you don't get a good seal here you are going to get fuel leaks. The 'O' rings you have bought are the ones that go inside the fuel rail with the injectors.
