LTX 12 . Currently I have a faulty det sensor and is only working intermitantly. If I go for an ECU upgrade to a Mictotech , do I still need a det sensor or can I get away with a bypass. Or do I need to fix the det sensor so the Microtech ECU works properly . Any ideas Thanks Mikea

IMHO, you should use a unichip, unless you intend to go above 555 injectors.

If you go Microtec Find a good tuner first.

Make shore that they have proven tune experience, Not just we have fitted those.

    Try talking to K-Zed

Possibly try his performance ECU and buy it.

I understand what you mean as I kind of feel the same way but just about every aftermarket ecu won't have the idle control or part throttle drivability of the factory ecu except for Motec,Autronic and apparently the Power FC is good in that respect. I have had Haltech and I really don't rate it for the above reasons and it used to shit me to tears that I couldn't get it running right no matter who tuned it and it's simply a limitation that they have. I'd go the power FC or re-chipped factory ecu personally.

I will be getting my microtech re-tuned

by a shop in wynnum which was recommended to me, I will let you know the results when it's done (probably around 3 months from now!)

no need to fix det sensor for microtech btw.

In response to your original question that microtech won't make any use of your det sensor so no real need to fix it for that ecu.

    I may be wrong but

I believe that the Microtech has no input for the det sensor. So dont bother fixing it if you're going the microtech option. BUt make sure you fine a good tuner.

My MicroTech was fitted largely due to the Unichip having reached it's useful limit on my engine. I do not have upgraded injectors (only hi-flowed stock turbo's) but that was enough to push the upper limits of the Unichip when running 18psi.
Unichip was fine on an otherwise stock engine, and certainly improved overall performance. I am not experiencing any lack of driveability, using a properly tuned MicroTech.
