Anyone here used an exhaust valve like this to quieten their car?

Personally I think its a neat idea. Open it up for power and close it when the police checks out your ride = no defects.

Autobarn are selling these quite cheap now too

Just recently in a catalogue I saw some made by
drift being sold for about $180ish.

Haven't had a chance to look at them to determine quality yet but I'm pretty tempted to give them a try for that price.

Always wanted the Greddy ones but I think they cost like $700 EACH!

lower pricing makes it alot better

definately have to check it out. Reading the forum and using the magic search button, it seems that not many people here have used this el cheapo way of silencing the exhaust.

Anyone here know of a negative point against exhaust valves? Really dont want to buy something without knowing the pros and cons.

if they jam shut they could build up too much pressure in your exhaust

and start back feeding the turbos which will wear them out quicker.

    I love the idea

only thing that worries me is the lack of price listings. That can only mean one thing, heaps of $$$$$$.

I saw these in the Autobarn catalogue too. I used to be a truck driver, it looks like an exhaust brake, so I don't see why it is regarded as a new idea. However the cheap price is new and a good thing. I have had an exhaustr brake jam on in a truck I was driving, a bit of a pain I must say.

    yup

went to autobarn (lidcombe?) today, shop actually sold out (only had one though).

Ive been looking for a cheapo valve for several hours now. Im putting on dumps and test pipes (thans to tuneagent) and really paranoid about police checks.

    Not necessarily expensive

The don't list a price for anything... I had Chris from Best Mufflers do some work on my car recently and I thought it was all very reasonably priced. Give him a call (contact number on website ) -they're in Sydney so nice and local and I can certainly vouch for him giving you some honest advice.

I have 2.5" dump and fronts

and high flow cats -if you're worried about noise fit a UAS X-System Resonator sounds great and keeps volume below anti-social levels. My system is pretty quiet for a performance system and no drone when cruising either.

I think i missed the x pipe group buy here a while back.

    Anyone selling theirs?

    Agreed

My exhuast is definatly not loud and have a mandrel bent 2.5" all the way after the dumps with the UAS X-muffler and magnaflow mufflers. Sounds beautiful :) No drone, and very quiet cruising.

Even with that exhaust valve fully open, it looks like it would still create unnessessary turbulence and still a restriction you could do without. Might be little but nethertheless. Cause I dont have that gizmo and mine is like what it says that does. Quiet when cruising and loud at WOT (not at all painfully loud though).

Not sure but price is on website

    SEE HERE

there are a few different options, I have 2.5" stainless. Mild steel has some benefits in terms of heat and noise, but stainless will last longer plus nice and shiny!
