I got the Z as my first car

And I love it (got it for $9.5k), the only work that I've had to do on it that wasn't cosmetic or my fault (damn poles getting in my way :embarrassed:) was the transmission ($1.45k).

go for it little dude, when do you turn 18? i advize for you to get

as much practice before you jump into it, take your perants cars for a massive flogging to get all of those nasty thoughts out of your head, learn how a powerfull rwd car reacts.
and when you do buy it, look after it..
the way i see it.. my 300zx is my girlfriend..
i gotta spend money on her,
gotta give her a bath once in a while..
treat her with respect and let her go out with other zeds,
and give her a royal thrashing every now n then :)

i was 18 and 2 months when i bought mine, and that was 10 months ago, i have spent about $200 on her for parts (interior stuff mostly) and the rest on cosmetic luxuries, go for it :)

Treat 'em mean keep 'em keen!

Mafi-zed....good one! How do those bumper stickers go?
It it's got t*ts or tyres, it's trouble. Can't say I subscribe to this theory for the former. The latter if you have a lemon maybe.

But even today, treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen seems to work on both fronts. Cars definitely run better after an Italian tuneup. Probably why rent a cars always drive so well (hard driven).

Women still seem to respond to this as well. Not sure about you guys but I prefer to be treated well and spoken to sweetly if you like. There must still be some primal wiring in women methinks.

No offence to any lady forum memebers!

    I got mine when I was 19...

It has been a fantastic car, a dream drive that also allows easy procurement of relations with the opposite sex.

    However a couple of things:

    - Make sure you have the cash to spare, like most of these guys have said, it costs a fair bit to maintain and keep.

    - Insurance is an issue too as said before, not many people will insure it unless your mum or dad owns it.

    - As was said here, see if you can hit up an advanced driving course, I did and it has helped a lot. On top of learning about safety etc you learn about cornering and a lot of other stuff. I had the luxury of being one of only 3 people doing the course on the day so got to do hotlaps and a whole heap of other fun stuff :D

    - Stay on the forum if you get one - this place is fantastic, the people are nice and it's a great place to ask Zed questions...

    - The Zed will be a lifestyle and passion, not just a car, no doubt most of us will agree with that!

So if you've thought about this stuff, go for it! You'll never regret it.

Re: Dont buy a Z as your first car. You will end up broke and probably crash it

    I don't agree.

it is expensive but it's worth it. if you have a steady income and you can afford it i say go for it. i paid 17K for my TT and all the major engine work has been done with alot of extras as well. might want to think about the 2+2 or 2 seater a bit more as well, as your more likely to try and show off and do something stupid with a car full of mates, and do you really want to have all your mates wanting you to drive them everywhere.
