well, what can I say! try get one with low K's and service history

A well maintained Zed is worth its weight in gold!
It may cost more in the outlay...but less in the long run
I got a low Km example from Japan with 65,000 Kms it has all log books from new! I have not had any problems except for a seal perished on my water pump!
These cars tend to run hot due to the compactness of the engine. Make sure that the cooling system is in good check. as well as look out for thrashed ones, usually have slightly noisy engines.

I think you'll get screwed on insurance

I got my insurance through suncorp, cost me around $650 a year with $350 excess, insured at market value (they will replace the car with same quality car if it's written off or stolen, they told me to take lots of photos to prove the quality/condition of the car). But I'm over 25, have Rating 1 for life and the car is almost stock.

I was quoted $990/yr $450/excess for the same insurance if I move to melbourne, my guess is you will pay more for the fact that your in sydney. :(

    there is also an age excess;
    16-19 $1650
    20-21 $1450
    22-24 $1250

give them a call 13 11 55 and ask if they will do the insurance for you, I'm not sure if they will because you are only 22 but it's worth a try. All the other major insurance companies wouldn't insure the car because it was an import and the companies that specialize in insuring imports wanted to screw me over big time, i was quoted $1000/yr $1000/excess to insure the car for $5000 - $7000 maximum payout!

    Outragous Insurance!!!!!

i was looking to get my car insured with "just car" insurance, they quoted me $ 3500 a year for full comp, so instead i insured it under my dads name with me as the second driver, got it down to $ 600 a year.

insurance is a bit of a kick in the gut, bu there are ways around it. LOL

    good luck

You cant get insured as a driver if you have finance tho. Damn...

im 24 with a perfect driveing record and I still pay $2400 a year, I was gona change to NRMA they will charge me $1600 a year which is really odd, NRMA with a better price? when I was 22 with my NA NRMA wanted $7000 a year for insurance. Crazy Insurance is.

OK well u wanna hear a good insurance price??

I have full comprehensive insurance from CUNA through Island State Credit Union for $1100 PA i have a twin turbo, auto, standard, i'm 21 and have a clean driving record, car is covered to the value of $13500 more than i payed for the car! Excess of $550!
    Not bad Ay!
Hope the insurance company isn't dodgy, but for now i'm happy, deffinately the best quote i got by far in comparison to all other insurers, including Just Cars,
maybe something to do with being in Hobart?
Anyway Just thought i'd bragg :p
might help some of u out too ;)
    All the Best!

In insurance, the postcode is as important as the car and driving record.

When my daughter moved to the Central Coast, the premium on her X-Trail halved.

I pay $1,014 with Shannons, $500 excess and $17,000 agreed value. I'm pretty happy with that.

ha, with 20k i could have got my car twice. granted i was very lucky - i think you had to be lucky to get a decent import under the 15year rule in the last few months.

i gues the thing to look out for is about the same as any other car that is getting close to 17years old. perhaps if you find one get someone who knows zeds to go and have a look with you?

otherwise goodluck, hope you find what you want.
