I found this plug disconnected when i was looking for boost leaks. What is this plug and what effect would it being unplugged have?

    IAA Solenoid

Looks like the solenoid on the IAA for faster idle on cold start. Gives the ECU control over your idle.

Actually would be the air regulator plug. The AAC solenoid

plug is about 6 inches further along toward the right. Agree with your description of the function though!

So its function is to regulate idle on a cold start and thats it?

Btw, having so much trouble finding the air leaks in my engine bay. One is deffinatley coming from the EGR but i don't know which hose and also don't know what i can do about it. The other is a real prick to find, it's down near the power steering resivoir/drivers side turbo compressor pipe.. arrrgghh :thumbsdown:

    Air leak at EGR

is probably the valve itself unless the vacuum hose has popped off. Your leak down near the driver's side turbo is probably where the short fat hose connects the intake pipe into the top of the turbo. there are 2 clamps which I agree are an absolute prick to get at. 2 glasses of scotch, start thinking in Japanese and your hands should fit in there:LOL:

I already tightened the hose clamps on both turbo pipes, my hands fit :p

On a side note, i am hearing the leaking while the engine is idle

No, it does more then that......>>

At the back of the plenum are 3 solenoids.
    • IACV - This controls your idle by regulating the amount of air fed to the engine (yellow dot in first picture).
    • FICD - This increases the idle when the AC is switched on (blue dot in first picture).
    • AACV - This controls cold start idle via a bimetal-activated shutter that closes as temperatures rise (to the right in second picture).

If you hear and air noise.....>>

From around the power steering pump when the car is running, but not when the car is off then it is most likely just the pump itself you can hear.

    Umm...

Yellow dot is AAC Solenoid & blue dot is FIDC...
    Air Regulator not shown.

    Yeah, you are right......>>

I really shouldn't rush my answers. Edited the post now so hopefully I've got it right.

Gee we're a picky bunch aren't we !!! Having just bought and

reconditioned an IACV unit I'm amazed at it's simplicity compared to the old carburetors some of us old timer's are used to...

I have removed the hardpipes on the drivers side to get to all the intake

pipes around there so i could inspect them for leaks and i can't find anything leaking! i unplugged as many as i could and blew into them and they seem to be all holding pressure but i still have this hissing type leaking sound coming from that area... maybe im looking for a non existant leak? do zeds normally make a hissing sound around the TB area?
