Anyone know any decent, reputable 300 zed mechanics that offer a vehicle inspection service in the campbelltown area?

Otherwise I will go with the NRMA!

    Thanks

    NRMA

    Hi guys-

What are the NRMA like for vehicle inspections on Zed's?

Were people happy or unhappy with them?

I would probably go over the checklist on this site before buying anyway!

    Cheers

If you have to use NRMA, then ask them to use

the checklist while they are inspecting. Also ask if they have any inspectors particularly familiar with zeds...ifnot, then they ain't gonna be much help...

Personally, I'd try to find an experienced local member to go with you or ask the owner to drive it to someone like UAS (once you are pretty serious)...

    NRMA...

When I was looking at buying my zed, I rang the NRMA for an inspection. They said it was going to cost over $300 to do (cant remember exact figure but was over $300), because it was one of those 'special' cars. Now that I think about it, it probably applied only to the turbo 300's, not stock NA's (why would they cost double to check over)?

Anyway, I dont think it was worth what I paid. The report sounded like he just checked the tyres, checked the paintwork, enginebay and boot for spare wheel etc and took it for a test drive. In the report he said the driveshaft was vibrating at over 80km/h. This was over 3 years ago and neither the previous owner or me, heard any noise or felt any vibration, even to this day.

Not worth it IMO, I think getting a good zed mechanic to give it a real checkup (including compression testing etc) or a member here willing to help is the ultimate way. Wish I knew of the forum before I bought the car!! :)

    I used "SYDNEY VEHICLE CHECK"

Before buying my current Zed I used the services of these guys for a total of 8 cars. From memory the cost was about $180.00. There inspection list was sooooooooooooo extensive.
I would highly recommend them. The stories and bull..... I learnt that sellers come up.........
A small price to pay for peace of mind.

    Thanks

    Thanks for your replies....

I might give Sydney Vehicle Check a call, and send them a copy of the checklist.

    Thanks again

    nrma = bad for me

i have had 2 nrma inspections, one on a ford falcon. the dude was SPOT ON with everything.
the guy who inspected my zed must have just removed the syringe from his arm, he scratched and warped a Z Rim, Bent a muffler, and didnt pick up an almost falling off front steering thingy that makes the wheel stay on. he also didnt pick up an exhaust leak that made everyone else in the car feel sick.

    Go to Unique AutoSports.....

They know Zeds inside out. IMHO anywhere else will give you 90% cosmetic & easily seen defect 'write-up'.

A true Zed shop, like UAS, will likely do a leak-down test, ConZult check for Det Sensor, O2 sensor faults etc ... all the expensive (potential) maintenance items.
