Guys, I finally drive a Z. I have imported this car though prestigemotorsports. My car is an automatic 90TT Targa Black with 86K of mileage. It's all stock except its 3 inch HKS exhaust. It also has a turbo timer.(I will post some pictures of my car soon.) I have been driving the car for 4 days now, but it is somehow ruff. I mean that I have to either rev the car to 3.5-4 thousand or put my foot off the exhaust to change gears. I asked the guy who did my compliance and he thinks its the modulator in the gear box (whatever that is). Some other mechanic said that it has been modified for performace (I doubt it). I went through the forums and most topics revolve around ECU configuration/Tranny (transmission oil), and Gearbox Filters (if not the whole gearbox). I have also realized that the exhaust has changed its sounds (continous mini impulses of air). The engine comes near stop in the morning sometimes. The car has not been serviced since I brought it here, and I am currently seeking the best mechanics for my Z. I live in NSW, so can the guys who live in NSW give me some advice on service/parts locations/contacts please? Much appreciated. If you guys don't mind, I need you to recommend fav types of engine oil and Auto Transmission oils and other oils/fluids you use in the Z. We should create a sticky FAQ, Tips and Tricks for Z owners, recommended workshops and parts,etc... posts. To help us share info. (Unless there are posts and I cant not find them ) I am hoping that the unhealthy Z only needs a service and nothing else. And I am looking forward to enjoying my stay with you guys in this friendly forum. :thumbsup:
Gday welcome Get in touch with the nsw boys and see if they can stick a computer on your car and have a look at it.It sounds minor and just a annoying problem to be fixed up. bad luck Sounds like a nice car bro, but I had this problem on my zed about a year ago and I ended up selling it. It was a shame because all the chicks loved it but the gearbox felt like it was going fall apart. I was racing my mate and launched it off the lights even though I had the same symptoms as you and I ended up blowing my gear box. It was going to cost me and arm and a leg to fix so I ended up selling it and buying a silvia. Change your tranny oil and see if it helps, otherwise you might want to look at getting a new gearbox before this one blows! Take care bro
My mate Guys, don't listen to this guy lol. He is my work mate and we are about to race before he goes to Japan. He has a s14 modified with exhaust and more boost and he reckons he can get me. I serviced my car and I am gonna kick his ass asap. I will let you know how we go. Lets make him cry before he goes to Japan. who do you reckon will win???
Make sure you.....>> Keep the timeslip for proof so you can get listed on the Drag list, although with all the quick times being run lately you want to be in the mid 13s to even get a look in.
