    Hi,

When it comes to the sound of your exhaust is it the muffler or the actual exhaust that has the most effect on the way it sounds?

Found some sound clips online of some different systems and the best was B&B in my opinion. Would like to know other peoples findings

    Thanks

    Kurt

I have no idea what my exhaust sounds like......

because when I'm driving the car I can't hear it anyway. If you can hear the exhaust when you are driving (especially if you are getting into it because you should be leaving the noise behind) then it is too loud and will probably be "droneing" which might be cool for the 1st 5 minutes but after that will become a pain. Most 2.5" cat backs will have a good tone anyway so don't buy something just because it's loud, especially if you are paying a premium price because it's loud. I'm sure there are lots of other things you could put the extra cash toward.

But then again, if your main aim is to have an exhaust that has more bass than your boot full of speakers, you wish to irritate friends & neighbours, attract additional police attention & scare the native wildlife then please disregard my "personal opinion".

    Yes

Indeed there is a lot of other things the cash *could* go towards, but when my zed gets here, its got a stock standard exhaust on it so obviously that is one of the first things to upgrade. It doesn't need to be really loud, i'm just after a nice sound.

    Something like this:

This is of a Labree 2.5" with no resonators

3" mandrel bent if you are replaceing the stock exhaust...

If you are after the sound and not the preformance then just go for a 3" from the cats back with mufflers.

Then later you can put some dump pipes in and go for some hi-flow cats & you have a good exhaust system.

    I have read

that 3" exhaust is unnecessary and even detrimental to performance unless you are running over 900hp or something crazy.

My mufflers on a stock exhaust system

dramatically changed the sound. Finishing the rest of the system off didn't change the sound so much, but it did make it sound 'smoother'.

go to www.magnaflow.com I got a pair of these on a stock NA, and the sound you hear at the intro here, is kinda what mine sounded like

    Egg ....

    Nope.

Wont be detrimental to performance on a turbo car.
Agree but, twin 2.5 should be more then enough as 3 inch will drone a lil if you havn't done x-pipes.

Mate be carefull, mines 2 1/4" with 2 SS Mufflers and my car is FU@KEN LOUD

at night time you can hear me honestly around 1-2min before i rock up. i can hear my exhaust in my car really well and what ZX-299 said is true, my car sounds mad for a couple of mintues and flying through gears but cruising especially with the TARGA's off gets irritating after a while.!

Check my profile for the tips ive got.

    Cheers, Maciek :thumbsup::LOL::thumbsup:
