well i havent been on here in a few weeks because of a very good reason. the zed is stuffed/crashed.

coming around a blind corner i saw a cat and tried to brake. some of you know that my brake pads are stuffed so my bad luck was that the brakes didnt work. so no brakes and cat was in my way. so i swerve......spin.......and hit a pole. i was alone in the car so noone was injured. i hit my passenger side pretty bad.

the door is stuffed, i found one for $600, i need a new A-pillar, windscreen, passenger floor and maybe rear quarter panel.

i know i can get all these parts from the wreckers (a place in thomastown) but i was just wondering how much you guys think all the parts would cost.

the labour is gonna be done by myself and some knowledgable friends of mine (proffessionals).

its a sad day for the zed and I but thats life...just gota look at the bright side. when i get her back, im gona love her even more and respect her more also.

    Thanks for reading guys,

    LaterZ
    Chris :zlove:

Really sad to hear of your accident.

But it highlights two regularly overlooked issues,

1: When I was learning to drive, the Testing Officer would always ask you, "What do you do if you see a cat or dog on the roadway, and you can't stop?" the correct answer was,

"Don't swerve to avoid hitting them, because you may lose control of your vehicle."

It wasn't the law, but it was in an "Advice to New Drivers" handbook issued in NSW.

2: NEVER drive with worn-out, or sub-standard Brakes or Tyres.
If you have the mis-fortune to injure or kill someone in an accident, and either of those items are seen to be evident on your vehicle, you could wind-up in gaol.

Hope you can get your car back into shape soon, good luck with it.

Totally agree with Chilli and the animal will nearly

always move before you get to them try and use your horn instead. Sorry to hear about the accident anyway.

    This is true.

Same rule applies when driving on gravel roads.

There are so many accidents in the North West of WA with tourists driving into the National Park to visit the Gorges when kangaroos jump out in front of them, they swerve and generally rolling it and ending up in the bush/trees.

But for Chris, whats done is done :( Sorry to hear dude.

After last week my hit list now includes

a rosella and a possum to join the off-leash maltese puppy I hit a few months ago. It was either the puppy or the oncoming traffic. In the end all but the rosella have survived. You feel terrible at the time but I was also brought up not to swerve for them.

    Good luck with the repairs.

    not smart

If your insurance company were to see your post telling the world you were driving on brakes you knew were no good, they will not pay your claim. best you delete!

Might be a stupid question but ==>

What the hell are you doing driving your car with defective brakes?

Do you want to kill someone or something, you really could end up in gaol for something like this.

Fix your brakes before the panels ect.

Very very reckless mate, actually negligent is a better term.

Glad you werent hurt and didnt hurt anyone else though.

    Regards

    Mark
