t-top, easy choice in my books....

unless your an absolute die hard drag racer and plan on making a dedicated drag car then go the t-tops. Nothing is better in fine weather than taking off the tops. Get heaps of looks also.

  3. Hardtop would be better

    They are rare,
They are more rigid than the t-top versions
And the Z's with hardtop weigh about 200 pounds less. But on a sunny day T-tops would be better.

Find a good example of the zed you want.....

and live with whatever roof the particular example has fitted. You are obviously not that fussed about either roof so don't make that a deciding factor in your choice of a zed.Finding a good 300zx will mean making some sort of compromise, you are not ordering a new car that you can pick and choose options.Good luck

    T-top all the way

i thought you already had a zx so then why are you thinking about this now?but to answer your question, i would go for the targa top because it looks much better and when they come off you can turn off you air conditioning in summer.you can also be really cool by cruising down your favourite cruising street (eg chapel) with the t-tops off and pumping your subbies for all the cool chicks too look at you.LaterZ

    depends where your priorities lie

Hardtop: lighter, more rigid, rarer, no targa leaks.Targa: targaI'd say, if you are going to use the car on the track, then the hardtops advantages may be worthwhile. However, I know in summer I sure wish I had a targa top!

    2+2 doesn't come as hard top ...>>

so obviously a T Top is the choice.Hard top would be quieter.

targa!! adds to the sporty side of the Z! it

Also can't be compared to a hard top in summer when your cruising around with the roof off :p

Cruizing without the roof is unreal!!

You really stand out from the crowd and adds a completely different ambience to driving the Z.
Not to mention the sound of the exhausts and at the back of your mind you know this is the real deal and not some pretentious convertable.
      Love it.

    i agree with geron

go targa top, then you get the great feeling of open air cruising, and hearing the engine in all it's beauty

    HARD TOP ALL THE WAY

    More Rigid
    Lighter
If you want serious performance out of ur Zed its most definately a hardtop. I own one but does not mean my opinion is biased (maybe a little)!!!!!!

just take off the t-top if you want serious

performance. I doubt it would make ANY difference, i mean noticable difference in weight. It would be like running with and without a system i don't know anyone who has noticed a difference greater than .05-.1 second IF anything at all.

there is a fair few around, not as rare as s

difference in weight is not cos

of actual targa tops. its because extra reinforcement is required to maintain body rigity on the targa version (and besides, removing targas would increase drag substantially, negating any gains from weight loss). Actual weight difference is arguable. I've heard estimates up to 200 pounds. I think its actually more like 50 odd kilos. One of these days I'll put my car on a weigh bridge and find out. Would also be interesting to know weight difference between 2seater and 2+2.Rarity, yeah not as rare as a manual soarer (i've seen one), but probably about as rare as an aerotop supra. Seen a few of these come through on the prestige mailing list.
