I was wondering if anyone could recommend a Driving Course/School in NSW that has tuition in defensive or advanced driving.I am keen to learn!

    Negative + feedback from me.

Haven't been to one but. I was thinking after my friend went to a driving course in Sydney (aami insurance required it), he is a lot more relaxed and confidant behind the wheel. Also, now he comes accross as cocky, as if he is the only one who knows how to drive on the road and no one else does. Which I think is worse than most 17 year olds who just got there P's.So pros and cons from my perspective.

There are courses run at Oran Park and>>

Eastern Creek Caz. Advanced Driving can be useful, as it ties together several pieces of knowledge you may already possess, and puts it all into perspective.
Ring either Raceway Office for details.Cheers

    I've done some courses...

I've done three driving courses, though only two were in NSW.The RTA used to offer a Defensive Driving course, which I did several years ago. I don't think that they still offer it, it was pretty basic stuff... tight turns and controlled stopping in poor traction environments.By far the best course I have done is the BMW Advanced Driver Training. This course costs $500 for one day, but it's well worth it. They cover high-speed manuevering, controlled slides, emergency braking and several components of advanced road craft. Usually you do the course in a BMW sedan but you can pay a bit more and do it in an M series coupe.BMW offers levels of traning above the first, but I've only done the first one. The later courses get a lot more expensive with the highest level being $6500 for two days. Finally I did Offensive Driving with Secta in Queensland, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone just looking to improve their road craft as it is more industry specific (police / security).I've still got contact information for the BMW courses if you are interested, and I believe that they have a website.Hope this helps,James

LOL, is this the AAMI run one?

The one that you can do if you or your parents have a comprehensive insurance policy? If so, it is not exactly advanced driving. I've done the course and its about 65% theory, sitting in a room and filling out a worksheet etc. You get to do a few things out on the course but nothing you'd call fantastic. Theres a few braking tests, slalom and hair pin stuff. Its good to test and know the braking capabilities of your car, but thats about it. Its more about making you more aware and taking care when driving.

Also have a useless or useful article :N(

here at work saying the same thing I just said. =)
It also goes on to say that unless you practice it regularly you forget, :N( of cause that means you have to go back and pay more money, :N( or just do it like most = on the streets. :N( But on the on the topic at hand BMW training course was very highly recomended. =)
