Consult printed circuit boards - update

Update on printed circuit boards; The group buy didn't actually go ahead, because I was originally quoted around $2.50 US per board, but when the time came to order some, the price had gone up to $10 US per board. This is way too much for what the board is, so (when I find some spare time) I am working with another forum member to redesign the board and get it made locally. This will hopefully result in a better designed, better made board, cheaper than the US one. The downside is that it will take some time.I'll post updates as any progress is made.Apologies to those who have been inconvenienced by this. Cheers,Dangerous
Original post followsI've emailed the guy that designed the circuit board for the consult interface, and he's agreed to send me as many printed circuit boards as we want, as long as I can get numbers to him soon, as he's just about to order another batch to be made.
Not sure on costs yet, but his first batch worked out at US $2.53 per board. I'd think that an end cost landed in Aus and then reposted to everyone would work out to around $10 each, but I'll try to confirm if anyone wants a definite answer on it.

Have a look at Click Here for details of the board, components and construction.

    Got some more details?

So after we by the boards we need to go to the local tandys and get all this other gear and solder it all on right? Then download the software for the conzult. What about the enclosures?

Hmmm, answers to a few questions!

Method, yes, you're right, but I haven't got the time to do it, and the cost difference would be minimal, so buying from this guy seems like the way to go, rather than doing it local. mic zed - there are a few $$ worth of electronic components to buy (haven't costed it out yet, but probably ~$25 worth), and apparently it can be used with the ConZult software which is at the moment free on the Net. I'm not sure if the ConZult software writers would intend for it to be used with another hardware system, but that's between you and them to sort out if you decide to use it. The board designer is also wokring on his own consult software as well (currently undergoing testing), so you'll have a choice, in the longer term.ZisLuv and everyone else - I'd suggest Dicky Smiths or Jaycar for better component prices, but I'll also look into bulk buying the components and selling a 'components kit' if there's enough interest. I'll try to do a pricing on it in the next week or so. I might even look into doing built up kits, for those who aren't skilled in soldering. Bit busy at work though, so this will depend on time and demand. Cheers all for now. will post updates when I hear anything else.

    I'm interested Dave......>>

I'm more interested in getting a complete "kit" that I can just put together as running around chasing parts doesn't really fit into my day. If that isn't possible then as long as it comes with a complete parts list that is detailed to the point that there can be no question of what parts I want then that would also be cool.

I've made my consult using a bread board so I'd prefer a proper circuit board.
    Just 1 thanks.Cheers,
