techno gadget man >> you now have photos of your photos - a bit overboard don't you think I still love my Loewe 84cm 100Hz CRT Screen even though it's 4 years old now. It uses scart plugs and has a computer monitor socket at the rear to directly connect your PC up to - pretty neat for a 4 year old TV.
Cutting edge... ...is never worth it. I'll get one in a few years when they're under 2k. Real nice, BK... but sheesh, you could buy three huge widescreen digital crt's for the same cash.Egg

Nice buy but personally... I wouldnt of gone with a plasma. I am told they fade about 40% over the first year alone. Plus for 2/3 of that price you could of gotten a front projector that would of produced the same/better image at over 2x or 3x the size. The con of these is that you need a light controlled room so for all day tv viewing its not a good choice. Just my 2c on the value of HT gear, but its all personal choice and what suits your setup/lifestyle. Looks great.
Yeah, I was aware of that, and I did some... research before the purchase. Most plasma displays have 30K hours life span and Sony 15K to 20K hours, but only Hitachi advertises 60k hours next to their plasma displays. Anyway after 5 years it will be time to buy a new generation plasma
My preference would be an 80 or 90cm flat screen 100Hz machine, which are now quite reasonable in price due to the competition from Plasma screens and projectors. Unfortunately unlike the plasma screens CRT TV's have no "Cool" factor appeal, but I can live with that.Another thing I've read is that plasma screens are susceptible to screen burn (similar to phosphor burn in CRT). So what you don't want to do pause the DVD to answer the phone then find yourself driving off in a rush while forgetting to switch the equipment off. I have to say that 60k hours use is very impressive, even 30K is very good :YD
My preference for CRT would b Sony Kvhr36m31 that's 86cm trinitron with HD ready, and it weights almost 90kg.As far as pausing is concerned you would have to leave it on pause for the whole day, but anyway plasma has screen savers, which are activated after a few minutes.
I suspected a built in screen saver it makes a lot of sense :YD I own a 80cm Sony (4X3 aspect ratio), which appears to be discontinued. Doesn't take Sony long to update their range models.
