carpc would be expensive. windows 8+ tablet that has USB host and separate charging (not charging only via USB) would be the way to go I think.

you could just go with the ECUTalk LCD instead. much more useful in the long term for a permanent monitoring solution.

im mounting a windows tablet in the stereo spot, with Bluetooth dongle in the odb connector, running Datascan at the moment but getting it set up for when I have Nistune
I think it will run fine just a biatch to manufacture the mounting brackets.

If you purchase a 7 "Android head unit, you can run Datascan! Search Android under 'geron' there are pictures.
It's great, it can be configured to show whatever info you want. But it's not as powerful as the PC version which has some level of troubleshooting. The paid Android version is just for information purposes only and looks great.

[IMG] The Android app is very cheap. Just buy it.
Don't waste your time with the Nissan Data Scan lite with ads.
    Pay the $7

If you want to mount a 7" tablet, try buying a silicone case and mount the case, so you can pull the tablet out if you need to.

Also, not all cheap 7" Android tablets have bluetooth to connect to your Track Electronics dongle.

The pic above, shows a fold over case. That would be easy to cut to double din size and the mounting bracket is built in.
