Hi everyone, I'm 99% sure my auto gearbox is on its last legs. After 2nd gear, revs go up but car doesn't want to move until it reaches higher revs. To be safe, I've replaced the ATCU yet same thing. I've bought a manual conversion not long ago including the oils required, rear main seal etc.. I was wondering if someone on here would be generous enough to lend me their garage space and a hand to do the conversion? I'm too broke to take it to a garage to get the work done but I am happy to pay someone in beers and food. I understand it's impossible to get it done in 1 day but would be great to properly be able to drive it again with all gears working, sooner than later. Please let me know if you're able to help out. Would much appreciate it
Tech Day Have you looked at using this workshop? https://www.diygaragewa.com.au/ From what I understand their rates are not too bad and it would be much easier and quicker to do it on a hoist. I'm sure a few of us could get together and give you a hand. Main thing is to have every possible part you need on hand to do the job. Do you have a comprehensive list of what you need? Make a post in the Coming Events section for a "Tech Day" when your ready and I'm sure you'll get a few experienced guys willing to help. I'll be the first to put my hand up.
DIY Garage seems to be the one that's recommended by few of my mates so considering this place. 8am to 8pm and overnight stay is free but back on the clock after 8am. assuming it'll be a 2 day job so can book a bay for 2 full days (8+ hrs prices drop to $18 from standard $22. $18 x 24hrs = $432) but that's if people are keen to help me for 2 whole days and not leave me stranded half way through haha. I bought the conversion off another member and he provided me with gearbox, one piece tail shaft, pedals, shifter+ boot, clutch etc.. I bought rear main seal, required amount of oils. also bought a braided clutch line. Would like to get new shifter bushings but gotta keep looking around. parts I lack is tools, have basic socket set and screw drivers. need spanners and other tools to make the conversion go smoother. as for dates, I'm thinking - 29th and 30th April - Sat and Sun. should have enough funds by then for 2 days garage hire. Really appreciate the offer, need all the help I can get.
Doing the pedals alone is a dash out job if you want to do it easily, then you have to fit the clutch master cylinder which is at least plenum off or engine out job. And do you have the right tailshaft to suit ?

If you were in Vic I'd be more than happy to give you a hand. I highly recommend going to that diy garage. I've lost count of the amount of times I wished I had a hoist. It's probably a given but make sure you've got a torque wrench as well to get everything torqued right. If you've got time, change the shifter bushings as well cause they're a pain to get to when the gearbox is in the car. Definitely do NOT need to pull the dash to do the pedals - it's tricky but possible. Do check the heater core though. Fitting the clutch master DOES NOT require the plenum or engine off. I've done it and you just need one person on the motor side and one person underneath. Again tricky but totally possible.
Also, do yourself a big favour and get a braided clutch line, the hard lines and second clutch bleed point are superfluous.
