96+ engine put into 94 TT Zed and Turbos advice for stock motor

    I pull the engine out and find that main cap broken and destroy my engine.
    At the time it blown out, I was half throttling around 3k rev from 1st to 2nd gear and at the time just before change to 3rd. My Zed did not having over heat. water temp. is just 94 degrees and ran 17psi boost on stock turbo.

    I find a 96+ turbo MT engine and going to put into my 94 turbo MT Zed. I am going to upgrade the turbos, dump, injectors, and do EGR removal, PCV re-route, under throttle coolant bypass as well before I put this new engine into my Zed.

    Should I have any problem to put 96+ engine into my 94 Zed?
    and what turbos would you guys suggest for stock internal engine?

    My Zed mod list:
    Nistune
    upgrade SMIC
    twin pods
    SCG-1 EBC

    going to put 740cc injector
    3" pipe with high flow cat
    3" downpipe
    AMS manifold

    It'll be fine. Depending on the origin of the motor you might miss out on vtc if it's coming from California.

    How fast do you want it to be and how much do you want to spend? GT2860RS or GTX2863/67... Plenty of options. Your fuel injectors will be ok for a T28 just take it easy on the EGTs running standard Pistons. Rods should only get sketchy around 400rwkw.

    Bleh disregard the cali thing; for some reason I thought you were in HK. Profile says SA though I must be thinking of someone else.

    The motor is from Japan ( mine Zed also JDM spec )
    I am thinking of around 400-500rwhp (with 98 octane fuel) and my Zed would be my daily drive car.

    Where would be a good place to put the EGT sensor on VG30DETT? and what temperature could the standard pistons accept with good reliability?

    yea... I am in HK at the moment. :D

    Pretty sure you could use the boss from the EGR valve. I can't really help you with specific numbers but whoever is tuning the car should know what to shoot for with cast v forged pistons

    BTW, will JDM 97+ engine have VTC on it?

    I am planning to put GT2560r on my new engine, but not sure can stock internal could handle around 400-450rwhp ( 98 pump fuel ) with these turbo. if not, I might just get a set of z1 GT525.

    Yes the japs never dropped the vtc from their engine setups.

    The pump is a hell of a lot easier to change than the turbos and relatively cheap ($200 for walbro 485) in the scheme of things. GT2560R would be a very responsive turbo.

    If you where running 17 psi on stock injectors and stock turbos your old motor wasn't going to last anyway. In fact it may have failed due to detonation causing the failure in the first place....
