    Hey guys!

I bought a series 2 PTU plug n play kit from the US, plugged it all in and .... car won't start. Had my mechanic look at it and I plugged the series 1 in and the car starts and runs fine. Actually once I plugged the series 1 back in cylinder 4 started firing again (weird).

Mechanic said it's either a faulty ptu or wiring loom. I don't know anyone around with a series 2 that could help me out around Sunshine coast.

Does anyone know where I can buy a series 2 (used or new) from someone on the forum. I can't wait 4 weeks to get it back under warranty.

    Thanks guys!

Have you tired cleaning the connectors on the original harness. They are prone to corrosion (green gunk).

Yeah I tried and cleaned them best I could, series 1 ptu is working atm, just the new S2 isn't working.

Pack up the plug & play Series II PTU in a box & put it in the boot of your Z.
Then take your Z over to Karl (90TTZ).

I don't like the plug and play. Still uses shitty old connectors and also introduces another 2 new connectors.

    Cut them and solder them

S1 PTUs once they start failing are intermittent.

Long time ago before I replaced my S1 PTU, it would sometimes drop a few cylinders, sometimes they start firing again and sometimes the whole thing fails and doesn't start when hot.

It's basically down to bad connections inside the thing and some have had luck resoldering everything inside.

I've never heard of S2 being faulty out of the box. The fact it didn't work is probably down to a bad adapter harness but I would definitely take it to Karl to have a look if he's not too far. Right now we are playing the guessing game. I wouldn't be buying another one when you can't get the first one to work.

Check the pins don't push out of the piggyback adaptor harness as the adaptor plug housing doesn't seem very strong

I initially had a problem with my plug and play. I used contact cleaner on the plugs that connect to the harness and then put contact grease.

I was looking and treating the S2withadapterharness as one unit, eventually I unplugged the adapter harness and cleaned the pins on both sides and have now taped the whole thing up and it looks like an ugly mess. Cops tried to tell me it was an illegal mod.
