Car shuddering on take off like it's going over a rough corrugated road. Even under very light acceleration and reasonable acceleration ? any idea's . This will go one for about 50- 100 meters then it's fine, does it hot or cold.

I haven't driven it a lot lately due to a banged up right knee or done any work on the car .

So it's only linked to taking off, slowing down without stopping then speeding up again doesn't do it? and does it every time you take off?

It does it every time i take off, and when i slow down and take off again.

I would expect it's some sort of bushing/gearbox or engine mount is flogged out although I could be wrong.

Hmmm good spot to start i suppose, and hopefully that's all it is. Because what got me was it didn't show any signs earlier, just started doing it.

Just out of curiosity mate.. could you give us newbies a link to the mounts please? I dont exactly have the same problem with mine but my gear stick dances around with throttle peddle play and I've been thinking about changing bushes etc in the near future :zlove:

You need a new shifter mount most likely

I get this but i suspect its due to the drive train setup I have.

ROB260 is most likely correct on the shifter bushes.

I had a similar problem with mine in relation to the shuddering, not the selector but it went away when I removed the hicas however now I have another issue.Probably the axle but I'm not sure.If I jack it up and run it without load,it comes good for a couple of kilometers then comes back.May be a wheel bearing on its way out causing the break discs to bounce off the pads dunno but it started after I adjusted the hand break.IThink I just answered my own question. My hand break pads are probably shot.

Well i don't have HiCas on mine so that'll rule that out, Handbrake hasn't been tinkered with, so that's out,,,,,,, Bearings seem good, no play in the wheels. So it will be a process of elimination, hopefully right first go with the mounts as i don't know when they were last changed, i know the brakes etc were done when i got the car RWC'd and replaced all pads and front rotors done. Well booked in to be replaced next weekend, fingers, toes, eyes all crossed.

If it's a manual trans sounds to me like you may have a slipping clutch. They can shudder if worn out.

It's an Auto, so no clutch to worry about, and i have never heard of an auto doing what my car is doing even with a shagged torque converter.

I had a similar issue. Turned out to be dodgey rear shocks.
