Hey guys I don't know if it's coincidence or I should be looking elsewhere but I replaced my clutch fan the other day as my unit has had it and the second hand unit howled bad so I bought a new truflow unit and it's even worst basically 2500rpm onwards right from start up it howls ridiculously bad yet I can get a full half turn when the car is off. Bugging the sh#t outta me any advice would be greatly appreciated

Your fan clutch is probably stuck on high speed

Aftermarket clutch fans are always noisier !! Especially dayco ones

    Mine did exactly the same...

put a NEW (aftermarket) fan clutch in and made the car sound like a full time JET.

Switched to thermofan setup now but having said that, simply hooking up a thermofan to the STD system.... ummmm....is not as simple as that. Lots of thinking and doing is required to make it work properly.

I think aftermarket fan clutches make lots of noise compared to the STD Nissan unit. It might be that new Nissan clutches might sound the same but not sure.

Which model truflow did you get? I fitted quite a few of them and they work just as good as OEM.

    Fan clutch noise

I also put a brand new OEM TT fan clutch in my Z and also get an extremely loud howling as soon as the car is up to operating temperature.

Very interested to hear if anyone has a solution for this. Could these new OEM units be defective or is there another factor in play here?

This is normal for all fan clutches of this type. It will start slipping before operating temp, hold the revs around 2000 for about 10 to 15 seconds and the noise will disappear as the clutch starts to slip.

Interesting so replacing the studs fixed the noise completely? I will give this a try.
