    agree.

And if you watch many of the classic car shows (especially the american/Canadian ones) this is how things have been done for YEARS...DECADES now.

Not 3D printing of parts of course. But machining of parts that are no longer available to restore a car to former glory. But to go full circle, that kind of service comes at a price.

Items that are 3D printable, will be a great venture for a short window of time.

But before long EVERYONE will have a 3D printer. And when that day comes, the only way to make money will be to sell the "file" for the part required.

You'll have to make sure your digital rights management is rock solid to ensure piracy is not a problem.

But on that same token, you'll have to make sure the part your printing (or selling the file for) is not protected by intellectual property buy the original manufacturer.

Will be a great day though.

Snapped your window switch did you? Here's the file. Print. Done.

    No shipping. BOOM!

There's a big counterfeit market for American muscle car and hot rod parts in the US and particularly over the past decade is getting harder to spot the fakes, until they don't match expected performance or crash and burn. Hopefully reliable sites for parts continue to survive with their expansion to cover more recently produced performance cars.

I can't leave my zed out the front of work without someone commenting on it/asking me about it/mentioning they used to have one/mentioning their mates one etc, yet still no **** wants to ****ing buy it off me lol.
They are currently cheap enough that anyone who wants one has one, and a lot of people around used to have one, admire the car, but can't be ****ed maitaining a 25 year old vehicle anymore no matter how fun they are and great they look (where i'm at)

I honestly think (and know) that a good example is worth a lot. Hell my currently insured price proves it. All I had to do is give them the low k's, pictures and work done with it signed off by a mechanic. I'm talking over $30k.

Insurance companies know (the good ones) these are worth a lot in fantastic condition BECAUSE they are so rare in that condition. MOST (and I'm talking 99% here) will low ball you on the cost because the majority are bad and cheap so market value for the average one is extremely low now.

I cannot see the bad examples going anywhere but junked. Extremely rarely will someone do one up will so much work needed. So the price will only go up for prime examples.

Problem mentioned above is correct also though as parts are now very expensive from the US. Japan is great to get parts from if you can speak Japanese, otherwise good luck finding a good reliable contact.

Most days I catch the bus as cost wise, you cannot go past a return trip at student prices into the city. One way's fuel costs more, one ways toll costs more, one ways wear and tear would cost more. So getting a return trip for less than one of those SINGLE way let alone all of them return is just insane.

When I want to mix it up I jump on the blade and go for a spin.

But every time I get the zed out turns heads without fail. More than half to 75% of the people you would catch turning their heads at the very LEAST. Makes me feel like I did when I first saw one and it's good to know they are still so popular in the looks department.

Again I'll end with, it all comes down to the example, there are so many bad ones out there I guess its so nice (and rare) to see a good one.

I am sure if you paid 30k premium a year any company would be happy to insure you for 30k :p

SGIO told me (last year) red book was currently $6500 and as far as they were concerned they would not insure for a cent over that no matter what I wanted...... needless to say it is not to be insured with them, and when we move to perth I doubt anything we have will be- currently all our insurance is with them.

I pay around $350 a year. Obviously you have to have the conditions to get insurance with them though (my age, cars age, condition of car, extremely low original odom with proof, work done with receipts and a second signed mechanic etc) and I drive less than 5,000k's a year. Also it's not in a major city.

:agree:Cili is like me ,running out of wind to blow all those candles out. The ZX has the advantage of the removable glass roof so we can remove our self from the car. A drivers license is something I have to urn every year because of the medical fitness check to drive and after eighty a full drivers test. That's going to be something else in my twin turbo.:br::zlove:

Don't forget when a ZX turns 30 years old it is then classed as vintage car.

Another part added now to the NLA list is the TT throttle cables cover... Local Nissan dealers have it as NLA, tried to order one from Coz
a couple of months ago & he came back with the same but said there was just one dealership in the US showing they had one in stock.
That dealer said, no, sorry, not in stock but checked & came back with definitely no longer available and no longer in stock anywhere...

Going through a box of parts I've had in storage for 4yrs, whoar, forgot I'd ordered one from Coz 4yrs ago :D

Hmmm many parts are being reported NLA in North America but still available via japan. I don't know about the throttle cable covers.

Would happily pay a decent mark-up if you can find me another new TT throttle cables cover (+ a few new or second hand '97 model OEM remotes :) - KH0569 - H056989910 apparently)

Interesting. My '00 doesn't have a nice remote like the '97.
