You can pickup a nissan service manual from bookworks for around $230, probably the best investment you can make if you're doing a rebuild

    i just rebuilt mine

started it today i think its working well but of course im still worried thinking " oh no what if i forgot to tighten one small bolt" , all i used was the stuff that came on the cd that came with data scan cable , one of the best things i bought for the zed , oh and put the dip tube on before the manifold  my only mistake

Everything you need to know is in the Service Manual in the tech Section

I stripped my VG30DETT block about 2 years ago, finally got it machined (decked and bored) finished cleaning it today, want to start reassembly. Because it's been so long, I don't remember all the bits I removed, and the bits I do have, I don't remember where they go. So I've had a look at the service manual, thinking that's all you would need, right????

So I'm looking at my box of bits, I've got 3 oil squirters there, that mount in the crank case, and squirt oil on the underside of the pistons. I thought, I'll just check what the service manual says about them..... absolutly nothing, not that I can find anyway, not in the engine section - either mechanical or oil lubrication.

Then I see a couple of sheetmetal folded plates that bolt inside the crankcase, I assume to divert the oil draining down from the head. Are they listed in the service manual? Not that I can see.

So I'm now wondering once I bolt this thing together, and what if I find some more parts that should have been fitted inside the engine....... but surely if I follow the service manual.......

yeah right, the only thing the service manual's good for is bolt torques.
