I need some advice on a cutting compound I recently took my clear back with 1500 wet/dry recently I used Farecla G3 scratch remover and I was surprised how well that brought up the majority of the paint to a near polished finish. However, there are still small noticable scratches on smaller bits of the car and on the large panels there are still some reasonable scratches even though the panel is starting to get a really good shine to it. I need a harder compound but I dont know which one to use. There are compounds that can get out swirl marks from 1200 grit in hardened clear, but thats probably overkill for my needs. Im looking at septone mr buff but no write up on it says if its good for clear coat. And a few other products im not sure if they would do any better than the farecla G3 Scratch remover. apart from a few scratches obviously deeper than the rest which are sitting just ontop of the clear the paint is starting to buff up fantastic!!! Can someone with knowledge on the topic recommend something in between a 1200 grit new clear cutting compound and the Farecla G3 Scratch remover?? Or would septone mr buff be fine on my clear coat? Obviously im in 2 pak and I used 1500 to get the swirl marks out from the machine used after I had the respray... Its so close to being mirror finish. Help me obi-wan kenobi you're my only hope...
I go 1200, 2000 then the G3, and then a final glaze/scratch remover You got to get the scratches out at each stage, if there are 1200 marks in it or scratches from a bit of dirt on your sandpaper then it's pointless trying to buff them out.
https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/menzerna/sampler_kit Menzerna are THE BEST polishes without a shadow of doubt and I have used a few. Its a trade only kinda brand that were developed for OEM for the likes of Porche and Mercedes. The best quality about this stuff is how easy it is to work and doesnt leave your trims looking like shit. Give this sampler pack a go....should be all you need to do your car a few times..[/QUOTE]
That's what I would do. You don't need to go over every square inch. Just do the important or problem areas
2000 or 2500 is probably the right thing to do. .. Good thing there isn't a great deal of panel area on the z's...
