Can confirm that using a sock will not work. engine just suffocates and dies (I've i found out 30 seconds ago). I will try a stocking cheers mike!
how far do you need to go? if its just to move the car around the yard, no filter isnt going to hurt it. just be carefull......
I used an old t-shirt... ...when my HKS filter element spontaneously fell to pieces. Was fine for a couple of days.
The delicate odour of SOCK can upset the air fuel ratio and cause oxygen starvation. Do this at your own risk.......
I thought I was the only one wondering what potential issues might have been caused by fitting an air filter lol
It's not his fault, it's the damned economy. Can you imagine how bad it will be if uni expenses increase? He'll be using hemp drive belts and wooden pistons just like the old days!
I dream about using wooden pistons again...... And you think you've got it bad .... You just cant please children today...
But replacement OEM panel filters are like $20 each I think. I have a used pair of K&N panel filters I wanna sell for $30 for the pair.
funniest post I have read in ages. Until the adaptor plates were readily available my uni filter was held on with duct tape for the best part of a decade
I had a K'n'N filter held on by a shoelace on my original E30 for a few days when the clamp failed.. This was over 15 years ago however and I was a muppet.
hmmmm lets see potential issues using a sock well maybe, the stench of smelly sock permeating throughout the engine and possibly emanating out of the exhaust, causing the E.P.A to come down on you for environmental pollution. Apart from that nah no issue, just don't use it for too long.
Omg I just want to thank everybody for this thread. Haven't seen a funny one in ages. Nice to see everyone getting along
