is it worth adding a H pipe section to a exhaust system?. stock system runs a H pipe and a resonator on each side.

im currently running split 3" system no h or x pipe or centre muff. i want to quieten it down.. whats the best way . will joining both banks quieten up my system or do is it the resonators that really make a difference.. ??

Have you got cats? They make a pretty big difference to noise and smooth the note a bit, obviously they're restrictive but that's why they work.

Just got a h - pipe on mine; it changes the sound but wouldn't say quieter

It won't be quieter as in less DBA unless you far a UAS type x pipe that incorporates a muffler. It WILL be less resonant as the harmonic pulses cancel each other out.

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

    I have a UAS 3" center muffler/resonator available...

Or you could try some of these mufflers which I use on my race car ..

A pair of 3" in/out with 4" high, 9" wide and 14" long cuts the exhaust noise from my 14.5:1 E85 race engine down to 93.5 Dba on the CAMS drive-by test at Sandown or PI. Their road versions let you keep the bass sound ("note") but drop the absolute noise level.

Their road mufflers will satisfy a 75Dba CAMS drive-by test.

Yeh deffinately have cats . So resonators might be the go ?

    currently running

    Resonators cut harmonics (drone).

    Mufflers cut DBA.

    Which do you want?

X pipe/H pipe is probably a good idea in any case as it will prolong the life of your turbo seals.

not interested in changing mufflers at the moment.. trying to cut down low rpm drone really

'H' pipe will only drop the drone down slightly, and has a very minor effect on DB levels ...:(

Fitting a pair of 10inch hotdog mufflers will take away a slightly bigger chunk of the drone over an 'H' pipe but still wont cancel it out to a tolerable level, they will also drop the DB level down noticeably by removing the exhaust crackles

a 'H' pipe and hotdogs combination still wont get the drone down enough, you'll still have it at its worst at the 100kph mark and it wont dissipate until ~110kph, again you'll have a slightly quieter exhaust and no crackles

An 'X' pipe will cancel out the drone, it also will NOT alter the DB reading

I currently run 2X 10inch doggies and and a 2inch 'H' pipe with my 2.5inch stainless system with mandrel bends.....
the drone drives most passengers nuts.... but being a deaf-old-fart.... I couldn't give a shyte about them, I can barely hear it and when I can a slight squeeze on the throttle gets rid of it
    :br:
I had an 'x' pipe..... didn't sound right to me

I am running 2.5" exhaust and a x-over, the drone got of my nerves, last week I had a couple of Hot Dogs added to the system, certainly took out the droning..$250..
