I have 5 bolt Z1 dumps into 3in AMS resonated front pipes into unknown brand cat back exhaust (with H pipe). At around 2,000 - 2,750rpm mainly in 2nd & 3rd gear (manual), I get a bad resonance/vibration/pressure in the cabin. It is of such a low frequency that it is hard to hear but it is definitely the exhaust. Is there anyway to reduce or eliminate this as it is actually painful on the ears & has caused my earwax production to increase at an alarming rate! I am thinking maybe a UAS x-pipe may help where the small H-pipe has not been able to help? Any ideas?
X-pipe will definitely help to change the frequency. The UAS option is exceptional as it has a muffler incorporated further reducing drone and volume ;-) I dare say this will fix all your deep drone issues Marco.
Thanks I will give it a try. Funny thing is that there is actually no drone at all - the frequency is so low it just feels like massive in cabin pressure almost like what you get flying!
Ok I installed the UAS x pipe a while ago & the problem still remains. What is the best way to remedy this? Cut the resonated test pipes & insert high flow cats? Add a silencer? Thoughts? If going the high flow cats are there any recommendations or just use whatever the exhaust shop can supply?
Do you have cats in the system now? Is it required where you are? If not, then you could always add some resonators in the mid pipes.
I get the same at that revs but after that its smooth as butter. (that's VG'S has the worse rpm resonance) it vibrates and resonates through the car but I thought it was more my engine mounts and solid bushes doing this . I also have 3" with no cats but have XPIPE in my exhaust doesn't worry me too much becauseracecar :br: .
you shouldn't have the vibration just the resonance. I've run no cats before and straight through exhaust just drone no vibration My vibration is from is from my engine mounts and solid bushes . try a centre x pipe muffler (but that wont fix the vibration) .
Sorry yeah only a little vibration, mostly just resonance. Already have an X pipe. Are you saying to get another put in? I am also gonna get some cats, any recommendations?
i had a straight through system with no cat and i didnt notice any vibration in the cabin? then again i did love the way it drove so it probably negated my listening skills. Didnt have a h or x pipe i got the cats later on and got these (highly recommend) http://www.surefloexhaust.com.au/exhausts/ballistic_cats/ballistic_cats.htm
Thread dig. I got cats put in & the exhaust system is much quieter now. The exhaust system still sounds great, but no more pressure/in cabin resonance. Perfect.
