Anyone have any experience with these- Eagle CRS6071N3D ESP 4340 Forged H-Beam Connecting Rods, seems a good price to what they claim. I found them at- Import Part Pro web site. Yes a over kill, like full coated pistons etc, I don't know how far my son will take his track Z wait, now he's read up on other International Z32"s drift builds etc & knowing other guys that are drifters he's keen to drift too. No cutting corners ($) on this rebuild, yes I've rebuilt a few engines that have let go on me from cheaper internal parts & kicked myself for going the cheap, even thou these con rods are cheap, have a look.
They are good. No one hear is making enough power to bend them. Stock rods start bending around 400rwkw. Best mod you can do is run e85 as a good safety blanket
I've been running them for years and around 40,000km. Sitting around 300kw currently, yet to push further.
In the array that I have recently seen I find Eagle rods to be rather basic / machined very poorly. The Forged H Beams I received for my build had to be corrected. I opted for Carrilo instead. No such issues thereafter! I reported this experience to Alan Davis at Eagle Rods and he basically said sorry but wouldn't offer any refund or such despite independent opinions, and initial photo showing the error. The engine builder told me this wasn't the first instance of Eagle Rods being way out of spec/ found wanting. They may not go bang or fail, but they won't be the smoothest/balance/ in spec rod possible. We identified that two of the six rods were so different in tunnel clearance that it could reduce bearing crush and may compromise the rod's ability to hold the bearing in place. Another issue resulted with "0.010+ piston clearance" required. These rods have since been returned to Eagle. No contact from them in 4months after an email from them which summing up read "We have received the rods and will send them onto inspection".
Well 4 mths & no reply, that's bad business, I'm not going down that road, sounds like, it's luck of the draw with their products. I'll have to dig deeper into my pockets then.
This may help you in terms of design/budget. I offer Scat rods over Eagle all the time btw. More affordable..same forging as Eagle but better machined. http://epracing.net/vg30-h-beam-connecting-rod-comparison/
Mate you asked for an opinion and got numerous ok results . One negative and you flag them and run !? Not saying there's facts or not in what others have posted but there's always 3 sides to a story and yes if you want to Pay more the. Get carillo
I know Eagle rods are in thousands of various vehicles without issue. But my post is a warning more so than a review. Check and triple check if you opt for Eagle rods! The VG30DETT engine is sensitive to very minute tolerances. A full refund on out of spec rods may prove difficult -especially being overseas. It is very expensive to correct/re-machine any issues with forged parts. If you have the rebuild done professionally then the time to sort out any issues with rods will obviously negate the expense of the more expensive brands/higher quality rods. Its always up to the buyer to weigh up the price for perfectionism.:zlove:
