Hey guys, Thought you'd get a kick out of this. I've moved from Melbourne to Darwin for work. After looking at several options for car transport I decided it'd be more fun to put it on a permit and take it up here myself, pretty sure it worked out cheaper too. For various reasons the car has been off the road for a number of years, so I wasn't quite sure if it would be up to the task, but I've always said life is too short to be sensible! I put some new tyres on, pressure tested the cooling system, changed the oil and checked it for codes. It took 5 days and lots of km's (not to mention paying $2 a litre most of the way up ) I had one eye on my digital temp gauge most of the way up, highest it ever got was 88 after screaming past a line of grey nomads and their caravans at around 160 It's quite daunting watching the road disappear over the horizon in both directions, but it was an incredible experience. Definitely recommend doing it at least once in your life.
