Many of us Vic folk have our Zeds serviced and repaired by Joe. Just letting you guys know that Joe has recently left Dontex Automotive, where he has been working for the last 5 years. He is now working at a new place that specialises in some very "exotic" cars and is in the process of talking to his boss about bringing the 300zx Z32 under their umbrella. Stay tuned for more news.

Dontex Automotive are still happy to work on Z32s in Joe's absence as Joe went to some degree to train some of their mechanics about working on the Z32. But thats up to you guys if you are still willing to take your car there without Joe working on them.

Zed's about due for service too....

Dontex is a PITA place to get to but went there just for Joe.

Its just down the road from Dontex, about a 1km or so further down canterbury rd.... So yeah, still a pain to get to, especially if you live on the otherside of town like i do :(.. The things we do for our Zeds....:zlove::zlove::zlove:

If you lived on the right side of town you'd be fine.

    Great for Joe!

Nice one for Joe! However, if they do accept the 300zx upon Joe's recommendation, I'll be worried about the charges since they do mostly super exotics. It's not likely to be cheap if anything. (not that Dontex is cheap, but this will possibly be a heap more then Dontex)

Confirmation - Joe now working on Z32's at new place

I spoke to Joe today and can confirm that he is now working on Z32 300zx's at:

    Black Stallion Motors

They specialise in Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus and other exotics. But also do rebuilds and custom work for other specialised cars.

In regards to labour rates, Joe has specified that the labour rate for Z32 owners will be $100 per hour, which is the same rate that Dontex is now charging. This is also about $30-40 less than Ferrari, Porsche etc etc owners who take their cars to Black Stallion Motors.

Owners who require servicing / repairs / rebuilds of their Z32's are to contact Joe on his mobile (0408337283) as he will be the Z32 contact man for Black Stallion Motors.

    Cheers

That's great news! My car is due for a service soon, will be weird going from being one of the best looking cars at a service centre, to being just average :p

    Hey Andrew...

Did you (or anyone else who has for that matter) end up taking your car to Joe now that he's at Black Stallion Motors.
    What was it like?:br:

Sean, since Joe has been at Black Stallion Motors, I have not needed to visit him yet. I do all my own work on the Zed and usually only go see Joe for major stuff. Thankfully, my Zed has been running like a dream and hasn't had to go visit the doctor . But if the need arises or I need to do a rebuild, Joe would be the man that I visit . He seems to love the place as he's working on Ferraris and other exoctics all day, and doing some really cool rebuilds and custom jobs. A man who rebuilds Ferrari and other exotic engines can work on my Z32 without questions asked .

    I have.

    Joe was great as always.

The guys at the workshop were good, manager/owner is really friendly. Found them good to deal with - better than Dontex.

No loan car available though. They dropped me off at station.

    Recommended.

    Cheers.
    Simon.
