Recently looking at stock turbos online and seen the casting numbers say m24 garrett ar48 2-1. Then did a bit of googleing most of them all say 2-1 Then looking at photos of my turbos last time motor was out mine said m24 garrett ar48 2-2 why is mine 2-2? Any info would be great cheers

    LOL.

Just tell yourself that your 2-2 is better and rare.

I would say its a casting reference for batch id. It has no relevance to auto, manual or left and right hand turbos. I have here 7 turbos with these on them, 1-1, 2-1, 1-2 and 2-2 in any combination of auto/man, L/R.

This is purely a guess from looking at general injection molding.
If the mould is designed to make 4 items, there would be a reference to the position in the mould.
It is possible that 4 identical components are setup as a 2x2 grid.
    1-1 being upper left
    1-2 being upper right
    2-1 being lower left
    2-2 being lower right

My initial thoughts were that 2-2 was version 2 modification 2
    Like V2r2 in software design.
But I think it is just casting position in a mould.
Maybe someone else can offer a different answer and I am completely wrong.
