Found this posted in the FaceBook Z-pages. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/4333992281.html Im dont know what he means by only 200 in the world... but this would be awesome for a hard top conversion.
never seen a GENUINE NISSAN 4 seater soft top before, only the light blue 4 seater hardtop that gets posted evry 12 months or so. id suggest that this is a conversion kit by some us company prior to the release of the 2 seater nissan factory convertible, as his add says its a 1991 (which in the states means its a 1990 build). there was a company called "straman" that did conversions on popular coupes, removing the tops etc etc. this is likely one of those. either way its a unique car, a buyer keen for a 4 seater convertible COULD buy the the car and import it to australia and transfer the soft top parts and converted bits over with a little work.....
Yes Jinxed, that all makes sense. That company was Californian? On my phone I can just make out the petrol filler cap position, so it is definitely based on a 2+2. Someone should post the link for the REAL full convertible hard top Z32 concept for the Arashi OP, since he is now interested in doing a hard top conversion on a Zed. It will never happen.
not sure where straman are based, or if they still exist. i looked into it for a mate who was considering importing a rare z31, and we found the straman verts. sadly they are left hand drive only, but again, if keen enough, the parts could be swapped to a right hand drive car and youd have a true one off here in australia....
So your previous comment appears to be 'the money' I also read that Nissan manufactured a unique windscreen for their convertible, same dimensions as every other Z32 but included an integrated antenna. So anyone out there with a convertible without radio reception can check if the windscreen was replaced?
theres definately a antenna in the front screen, same way as the coupes have it in the rear screen......
If you mean this one, I agree. Can't really spot the rear seats http://forum.e46fanatics.com/picture.php?albumid=127&pictureid=495%3C/img
brisz posted all about Straman/ASC in 2011 http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1218661&postcount=8 Its OLD news LOL brisz posted all about Straman/ASC in 2011 and included some good pics, including the interior. IMO, when the rag is closed over, the 2+2 spider cuts a sleeker silhouette than the 2+0 vert.
I didn't know there were 2+2s actually produced, I thought the Straman ones were just 2+2 TTs, whereas regular verts were all NA. That interior shot in that thread QLDZDR is hideous, what a mess Tell me how targa is not better than that!
the real nissan verts have a inside cloth skin. you can still see the exposed black folding mechanism similar to that photo though. rememebr one thing though, the whole point of a vert is to have the roof down......so the bit that needs to look good is the roof down side of things.........
This is the same hardware the ASC company used to create the hardtop Z. [yt]T-Ku62NeSCQ[/yt] more info on hardtop Z http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/nissan-300zx-spyder-concept.html pics https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.445128186454.236414.300729326454
