    Hi All,

So I have downloaded an app from the google Play Store by BlueFrom.

Looks goods but to make it work it states the following:

    Looks very complicated :(
Is there an easier alternative to connecting this App on my mobile to the Ecu?
    Maybe just using this?: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/DHL-free-shipping-1pcs-Class-1-bluetooth-RS232-adaptor-100Meter-DB9-Serial-Com-Port-Adapter/905335_507795736.html

    :help:

I installed this and used it to connect to my ConsultBT (from Track Electronics), and even though it connected and seemed to work, it didn't retrieve any sensor data.

As opposed to the NikoZ app, which works fine.

My suggestion: Get a ConsultBT and pay for NikoZ.

It seems to do exactly the same thing as the NikoZ app?

Can you give me a link to the ConsultBT please :)

Sure. Including car hire from the airport and back, that will be $600.

Adam when you contact her about the consult BT ask her why she doesn't reply to my emails with logs for the adapter that I have (fails to connect 50% of the time)

PS: nikoz support is non existent.

    Additional info.
The Nikoz software does not see the conzult BT device 50% of the time, even though it is selected off the paired device list. Trying the "connect to device" option rarely works and I must try shutting down the app and phone's Bluetooth (restarting the app to trigger the Bluetooth works 50% of the time) or more drastic cases, restart the phone or restart the car.

One day I was fed up and restarted the car about 10 times in half an hour. Found out my battery wasn't so good after that and had to get a jump start. (Blew up the display on my digital speedo) ended up getting a new battery after that.

The problem could be with Nikos, but the diag log that Consult BT generates shows limited bandwidth and failed comms at various data packet sizes.

Bought Nikoz twice to install on another phone. It worked with similar problems as above, but stopped working after the Samsung Galaxy S2 auto updated to her 4.2.2 Android. I have downloaded nikoz again but it just restarts the Nikoz software in a loop after if times out trying to connect to Conzult BT.

Looking for another Android app that will connect to the conzult BT to verify if it is the problem. :( Anyone know of an Android app that works with Consult BT? (They could not offer any suggestions)

    correction to previous post

Android version is 4.1.2 (not 4.2.2) in case anyone was trialling the same gear.

Hey Adam and anyone else who has the time to provide feedback to BlueFRom,
I commented on Vasily's blueFRom website that his program just gives me a blank screen (except for the connect device and settings buttons) he replied asking about anyone who is using his app.
Since this is a free App that the developer is supporting it would be good if others can try it and report back to him through the Android Playstore link.

Vader's comment seems similar to mine, except that NikoZ doesn't work with my ConsultBT either.

you have to go to 'select sensors' and tag what you want to see then go back to the previous screen to view the values
i got nikoz but it gets stuck in a loop trying to connect
my problems with bluefrom it doesn't auto connect when selected and after about a minute of viewing data the data freezes and i have to restart the car or pull the consultbt out and shove it back in

I tested my ConsultBT on another Zed and used 2 Android phones and NikoZ and BlueFRom on both. I even unistalled and reinstalled apps.
The apps connect to consultBT but the ECU and ConsultBT don't communicate, as determined by the ConsultBT diagnostic test log.
Trackelectronics suggested that I send it back for testing.
I assume that they have a Nissan to test with.

If you are having that problem of working for a bit and then it stops, you should try selecting less sensors (like 3 or 4 sensors) and see if it is more reliable.

PS: my ConsultBT used to work with NikoZ if I selected 7 sensors or less

    Update:
My BTconsult adapter was sent back to trackelectronics for testing. It was faulty and that was probably the reason why I couldn't get the BlueFRom app to work.

I will get my BTconsult back (repaired) soon.

In case a new member is reading this thread, the BTconsult adapter is a bluetooth (BT) version of the standard Nissan Spec 'Consult' cable which was initially designed to interface with the 14pin diagnostic socket found under your dash (above the driver's footwell fuse box) that original adapter outputted to a serial plug but you need an old computer with a serial port to make use of it. Most computers will only offer a USB port now and getting a serial port to USB adapter (that works 100%) isn't that easy to find. Luckily there are a few companies that sell a version of Consult cable with built in USB port so you can use a newer computer.
The BTconsult adapter should still work with a computer that has bluetooth, but the version of bluetooth might be 1.0 rather than 2.0 or 3.0. So bandwidth will be less than using a USB cable version. This would affect the number of sensors that can be updated live on screen (as you would expect).
If you want to use your Android phone or Android tablet (which has bluetooth built in) or you don't want wires connected to your laptop, then you need this BTconsult adapter.
