When I bought my new '89 Z32 it didn't have any bulbs in either of the Reading lights or the roof light (turns on when doors open normally) but after purchasing some new ones they don't seem to work. I've checked the fuses (in the engine bay) and couldn't find anything broken or missing (apart from the big fog-lights fuse).
Is this a common issue or does someone have any help?
I tried putting some 12V 1.2W in the reading lights (which are 12V 3.5W) as that's the best the local car stores had. one bulb would turn on very dimly, just enough to see that there is electricity, the other side didn't turn on.

Looked in the drivers footwell quickly, took the panel off under the steering wheel too (im RHD btw) couldn't see anything looking like a fusebox. is it behind another panel or something?

To the right of the accelerator there is a little panel that you can pop off, and the fuse box is behind there.

Its probably worth pulling all of the fuses just to check them anyway. After all, its now a 25 year old car
