Guys I need some info or ideas on where to fit the rear anchor mounts, any of you guys who are running a harness where have you put the mount. Some info I have came across is that the belts over the shoulder are not to be mounted to the floor behind the seat pulling the straps down onto the shoulders. So to keep the straps above the shoulders, the options are. 1; Fit a harness bar for the belt to go over, I still need to fit the belt mount somewhere in the back. 2; Fitting a roll cage with mounts for the belt. UAS fit a CAMS approved mount to a customers car a while back. I'm sure there are pics on here somewhere or even on their website www.300zx.com.au
Hey mate Of course, you know you need an engineers cert for this, otherwise they are not compliant (unless your wearing your normal seat belt as well) Having said that, the reason for mounting the belts to the seat, is that in the event of a collision the belt and seat remain together. In other words - Imagine you mount the belt elsewhere and the seat being pushed forward or the mounting bar back - you would end up very squished indeed. Having said all that - there is risk regardless in any accident and I believe that you are safer in a point harness than not being in one contrary to RTA who deem them un-safer then normal belts (lol - there's a reason why race cars/ drivers use them) Many professional race car drivers mount to a roll cage bar that is fitted, so that is probably your best, most popular and soundest option. I don't think it would work on 5 or 6 points - only 4......and you can find plenty of pictures yourself surely
Yep - most two seaters have a rear parcel to mount off, but the Z is really a 4 seater and doesn't have the high rear parcel to mount off so the roll cage is safest (if done properly) but most expensive option
What on earth are you banging on about? Do you have any experience whatsoever with the topic at hand?
This may help 2+2 install http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320522 2+0 install http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-292158.html
I have heard that they don?t like harnesses because they don?t have the inertia reel, something about rollover accidents. If this is the case why can?t we use the harnesses that have inertia reels in them? We had these harnesses in Seaking helicopters in the late seventies, they also had locking handles on them so you could override the inertia system and use them as standard harnesses.
Just have seat belts for road and CAMS/ANDRA approved harness for track? No need to reinvent the wheel. Understand what you're saying but there are relatively straight forward solutions out there I don't think we need to make it any more complicated
No, I asked you for pictures. Why do I ask? Because I know such pictures don't exist. Mounting all four (or five or six - yes, these configurations are real) points of a harness to the seat is a dumb idea, and you'll find pretty much everyone mounts seatbelts to either the vehicle's body, a harness bar or a proper roll cage. If your seat separates itself from the car in a crash, that means you ****ed up the install. Stop posting comments on subjects that you plainly know nothing about, they're misleading to those that don't know any better. This is not the first time you've been called out on this either.
Trolling for xmas Stop posting stupid comments yourself - its not the first time you've been caught out being an arrogant and ignorant arse either! Sorry if santa gave you nothing for xmas, but its not my fault! Your either too lazy or just too stupid to find pictures yourself as there is no shortage of pictures out there on the web, given I have just seen hundreds, I figure its a stupid issue, given you actually think I have never heard of a common six or five point harness (yes these are real - LOL) - I was just saying I have never seen all five or six points mounted to the seat rails myself, not that they don't exist you misleading ignoramus. I never stated it was better to use the seats either, in fact I actually recommended using a properly constructed roll cage given there is no high parcel shelf in a Z. Eddie stated he had heard reasons why not to use a seat rail and I was just offering food for thought on why some in fact use the rail, not whether its great or common or anything else - purely just providing him with food for thought, so he can consider all sides of information. "If your seat separates itself from the car in a crash, that means you ****ed up the install." What crap are you on about - the whole floor can move in a crash! How many people have you pulled out of a wrecked car?? I was a firey for over 20 years and I have seen a lot of seats moved that had nothing to do with the way it was installed, so I don't buy your generic statement that a seat that moves was installed incorrectly. Heres some pics, showing many different variations of using seat point fittings I am however actually surprised that you do not know that there are actually many different types of bars and ancillary fittings available out there even to assist the fitting of seat belts to seat rails / seat fittings and seat belt fittings/ anchor mount points because they are an already established engineered point. Given the huge number of them and your inability to find them, I figure you are in fact stupid after all. Here's just one set, that is similar to a set I used to have in an XU1: I hate to sound abrasive anytime- but there's not much choice given you neither sent a PM with your trolling comments to me but instead choose to publicly come across as a prick that only has the intent of trolling, rather than providing this post with anything that could be considered as helpful or as a contribution, you had to expect this response. I suggest you PM me directly with your bad attitude instead of hijacking this post in order to carry on your trolling activities. Sorry you had such a shitty xmas!
This is a thread about where the shoulder straps of a harness go. You said to attach them to the seat, and I said that was a dumb idea. I'm calling you out in the forum itself because other people who read this thread should not be misled by what you've posted. I appreciate the time you took into putting together your response, but I also note there's no photos of the shoulder straps attached to either the seat or the seat rails. I wonder why that is. I had a superb Christmas, thanks.
