Mysterious, but my windscreen wipers will not turn off. It is on the 'off' mode on the pod but they are still going.

It all started this morning just as I was assignment writing in a car park, just with accessory on (not even touching anything).

Guessing it's probably a short somewhere. I hit around the pod a bit but nothing happened. No fuses are blown either. Heeeeeeelp!

    Egg ....

    Probably...

...the switch, or relay if the wipers have one.
Could also be a wire that's ground, but less likely.
Take the pod apart and have a look see.

Tired a different pod, still the same result :(
for the time, I have disconnected the electrical connector in the engine bay. It is very corroded so it may be worth a clean.

Will be interested to see what you find, my problem is the exact opposite, no power to the pod at all, no air, no wipers nothing. Fuses good, there may be relay behind the fuses in the drivers footwell that supplies the pod,, one day I'll have a look for it, in your case id say the switch activates a relay find the wiper relay , replace it (or swap with another, most are the same) see what happens

Mine just resolved itself after being disconnected at the connector for a few days.

suspicious that it is water getting behind the drivers side guard. next to the starter relay there is this brown thing what looks to be a relay. when I dried that out the issue went away.

    shot in the dark,

is your car possessed by any demons that you know of?

    It's demons no question

I had the same issue on mine way back. Any fix was temporary. The only sure way was to pull out the fuse. When it rained, put the fuse back in.

If you let the wipers go on a dry windscreen, the rubber will wear and eventually, you'll get nice scratches on your glass.

Ok, so looking through the FSM, it seems the likely culprits are the Time Control Unit or the Wiper Amp.

My money's on the Wiper Amp.

ive heard the time control unit can only be accessed when driving at 88mph or greater......:D

It sounds like the park switch in the wiper motor isn't opening properly - maybe something loose or moisture in the contacts? Testing it externally won't be easy when the fault is intermittent - you need to test for the switch opening momentarily as the wipers go through the park position.

I can imagine the frustration when this happens but I cant understand why you would do a fix like that, he did all the hard work swapping out time control and wiper amp with no result and even pointed to what I believed is the most likely culprit the parking mechanism in the wiper motor.

But then chases a quirky fix rather then change the motor out.

Swap the wiper motor out to confirm the suspicion before chasing quirky fixes imo.

He did testing with spare time controller and wiper amp. This was also followed up with testing with my car with super long jumper wires to confirm that his original and spare amp and relay were both serviceable.
He simply de-pinned that one pin from the spare wiper amp keeping the other completely intact. This is/was a temporary fix until a replacement wiper motor can be sourced. His wipers do retract all the way to the park position when turned off as well. replacement wiper motors are not cheap and changing them out is not a walk in the park either.
This was not intended as he said as a final solution but rather an interim fix to prevent the constant wiper activity when the car is on and still have some sort of wiper functionality. I'd say it's a pretty good interim fix considering the only short-fall is no intermittent wiper function.

I thought if he could get spare amps and controllers he could get a spare wiper motor and with the time doing what he did he could of had a wiper motor in.

From his last post over there I got the impression it WAS his final solution, "Just to add closure to this thread", is what he said.

Wiper problem ? motor out, its how we roll. [TIS]

EDIT: Wiper motors are hell cheap on ebay.com $10-$30 and plenty of.
