It was still a valid test because it was a comparative test. All the cars were identical. I accept your point, so how long do you feel it needs to be for the test to be 'comprehensive' enough?
Aye unless your car is tuned for 98 then 95 is fine and what zeds are tuned for from the factory anyway.
Aye this ^^ , also I wouldn't of even mentioned it unless it was backed up and done PRIOR to this with my old man anyways, these guys just did the same test (although a lot shorter) and came out with the same results.
And that is to make no mention of the fact that these results are contrary to those previously mentioned in the thread?
Hi, Ive got an auspec NA, I would say '91 is okay to run a NA cars with. I don't have a tune, I only use my car to get me from A to B, and also don't feel the difference. Saying that, I also do believe in the saying, you get what you pay, and I do care for the longevity of my car that's why, I fill it mostly with BP 98. Not only for the High octane efficiency, It also cleans whatever crappy deposits forming inside..:zlove:
I disagree. I have an na as well, factory tuned to 95. I cant feel a difference in performance but my odometer sure as hell can. 350ks on 91 compared to 420ks on 95. From a purely financial standpoint it works out cheaper to get 95, not to mention the health benefits for your engine.
Jordz, have you read the results of that TV comparison test resulting in 98octane being the best for more distance per tank? 95octane was not as good.
Try reading my whole post before disagreeing. First paragraph states yes you can run 91 if you choose to do so. Second paragraph will give you an idea that i dont care about petrol prices but rather whats best for the longevity of my car.
I was only disagreeing with the "no difference" part. I have an observable difference, just not in power. I have read the results of those tests and ive also done my own. @91 i get 370kms to a tank (average over 6 tanks) @95 i get 410kms @98 i get between 420-440 depending on the petrol station. I choose to fill up with 95 because it works out the most cost efficient fuel for myself. Obviously my tests are not comprehensive due to circumstances such and where im travelling, traffic, the service stations themselves and to a small degree my manner of driving too.
Add a Litre of Toluene Paint thinner to the fuel. Or 10, or a 50% mix or 100%...but it's not that cheap.
