    Hey Guys,

I have a 1996 VG30DETT that started life as an auto and i also have a set of NA S2 cams on the shelf. Can i put these in or will i have to re-shim the lifters?

With hydraulic lifters do i not need to worry about this?

You can put them in without issues the hydraulic lifters compensate automatically. I would suggest though that you crank the engine without fuel/spark for 20-30 seconds after a cam swap with hydro lifters. However, for a fractional HP increase I wouldn't bother unless the heads are apart.

NA cams are different to TT cams, just double check though.

No I think they are all the same between man TT and all n/a variants.

It's only the auto TT which has a smaller duration.

That must of been what I got confused with, thanks for the clarification.

While we're on the topic of cams, will the later style NA intake gears work with earlier style TT manual cams?

IIRC S1 gears are not compatible at all with S2 shafts and vice versa

    Correct!

Hey SubZero how did you go with that top end you bought off me?

Any pointers as to where I would find that? Also it would have to be a JDM FSM wouldnt it as the US stuff is different?

It's still at Dad's in QLD. I didn't get my zed back till late February and by then it need a blue slip and my daughter was born a dew weeks later.

Ended up needing a new family car so the Zed is being slowly parted out to pay for everything else. :(

The whole engine minus the cams you took are there, and I've got another set of S2 manual cams and intake gears here.

All available too btw, needs assembly, plenum and few other small bits also needed.

I believe they wont, IIRC there is a variance in the length of the shaft and offset of the cam sproket so if mismatched they dont line up with the belt correctly.

All exhaust cams will fit all exhaust cam sprockets (all exhaust cams are the same).

S1 intake sprockets will also fit S2+ cams with adaptors

S2+ intake sprockets will only fit S2+ cams.
