What's the go with Aztec Red? Went to a local auto paint retailer yesterday to get a can of AG2 so I can repair a close encounter of the brick letterbox kind

and when the guy looked up his catalogue, it came up as Sierra Red. Now Mitsubishi, Toyota and GMH have an Aztec Red listed, but not Nissan. I thought the solid red used on Zeds was Aztec Red.
Thankfully all the damage is on the urethane parts, no panel damage, so I'm gonna try to repaint it myself. Let you know how it goes.

As I have also had a close encounter with a brick letterbox. I slid onto it on the wet grass when I went to move away from it knowing I was too close   My damage is in the same area, towards the back and up more, yes mine is on the panel. Wish I could fix mine but well cost me about$500 instead.. Good luck, sorry about the hyjack

Yeah, I just told them the code (AG2) and they got me the right colour. Prehaps it was renamed in Australia or something?

    You'll find it HERE Doug.
    Search 'Aztec Red' or 'AG2'.

    Thanks for that, Rob.
Searched AG2 and Aztec Red... Nissan (Infinity, and 1989-2006 Nissans, coincidentally the years of the Z32 release) only, not Mitsubishi, Toyota, or GM. Seach on Sierra Red shows only Harley-Davidson used that name.
PPG is a US firm, so maybe the colour was called Aztec Red in the 'States, but Sierra Red out here.
PS: Jeez, there's some weird stuff that comes up when you "Google" AG2

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    Hi Doug & Rob,

I also found that AG2 in the Aussie market is Sierra Red - had a can made up at Paintmobile. The PPG website is a US website and it doesn't cover all possibilities. I will be repainting my Z in Holden "Flame Red" (2001 Monaro colour not used on Commodores), but while Flame Red is recognised in a hundred or so applications, not the one I'm looking for.

Now, whilst PPG is a US company, they are active in Oz. They took over the Dulux OEM paint plant in Clayton, and are 1 of the 3 OEM paint suppliers in the Oz market, the other 2 being Du Pont and BASF Coatings. I found it interesting that 2 colours made by PPG here in Oz and used by Ford Australia in the last 2 or 3 years didn't come up - Blood Orange (no hits), and Mandarin (plenty of hits, but not the right one). I am using this colour in my underbonnet colour coding, sort of a metallic pearl orange. Got some of that from Paintmobile as well.

Ahhhhhh if only I could use our paint shops and ovens at work!

    Cheers, Mikey.

    Sure did, Nigel!
See THIS thread. The photos are no longer available, but you'll get the 'gist' from the text. Thanks again Tekky.
BTW, it was done not long after the 'Close Encounter', almost 7 years ago.
See also THIS THREAD from about a month later. The photo shows the repaired/repainted panel, but the bottom of the bar still needs a touch-up. As you can see from the photo, the colour-match was incredibly close. The paint shop reduced the black component of the paint formula by a few drops to allow for colour fade.
