You can't take the cap off if the car is hot, the system is pressurized, that's why it exploded.

Who was driving man, your 13 right?

most important thing that you didnt mention, what was the temp like? bubbling in most cases means its over heated, could be a coolant leak from...1 of the 200 places on the engine that could leak :(

Declan, l am surprised that your Dad (since you and he co-own the car) let you take the radiator cap off while the car was still hot (or warm).

You can't remove the cap on a pressurised cooling system (as stated above) unless you are using that non-water based coolant that has a really high expansion temp.

I don't know what kind of bubbling you would hear over the noise of the engine??

Is it possible the sound you heard was from the AIVs?

If the cooling system is bubbling then it's sucking air from somewhere... go and get it pressure tested properly.

Oh and you don't remove the radiator cap while the system is hot...

+2...what was your engine temp?? Might not have anything to do with your radiator.
