hey guys, long story short, my engine needs replacing and i was just wondering if there was anyone in melbourne willing to help me remove my engine from my n/a zed, it's a 1990 z32 and every mechanic i've tried quoting are expecting way too much than i have, so it'd be nice if there were any locals that could help me remove my engine!
    cheers! :)
oh, and i'm from the northern suburbs in melbourne!

Organise a tech day & serve up a bbq with some drinks & I'm sure you will get a few people to come down & lend a hand

okay, well i live in roxburgh park, and despite what you've probably heard about the suburb, it's not as bad now hahaha, anyway, i'm getting my car back from storage hopefully this saturday so i need as much help because i lack the tools, and am hopeless!
plus, i'm 18, jobless and my parents refuse to help me with my car because they reckon it's just a timebomb.

Haha well i got a few tools but nothing to pull tools. I'm in Bundoora & Cam is near Craigeburn. There are a few members around roxy.

You would need a engine stand & crane if you want to take the engine out. I have a couple days off coming this week from thursday so if you need a hand with anything let me know

    LOL!

I have a job which every cent I earn basically gets spend on the ZX,
before that I had another job and every cent i earnt from that went to the zx
then I had a few random jobs that i did in melbourne and got about 4k per job, every cent of that got spent on the zx.

I live in a box under a bridge with an old mattress someone lent me a year ago, baked beans cost about 60c at Aldi, so I get by.

    hahahaha you're all so amazing!:D
well i don't have an engine stand or a crane, but i guess that's one thing i can organise to borrow from a mate. :)
i might organise a tech day, because i wont be getting my car until this weekend and i'm going to need all the help i can get removing my engine, then i might throw another tech day/bbq and drinks to help me chuck in the engine and help out!
i ought to find a job though to do while i'm finishing year 12 off! :/

Why are you replacing the engine? Whats wrong with it? Have you gotten a replacement engine?

Yeah what is wrong with it? Are you sure in needs to come out? We have covered almost every little thing that can go wrong on the engine and worked out ways to fix these issues with the engine in.... The Tech section is a wealth of knowledge along with the old timers on here I'm sure it doesn't need to come out (unless its bottom end issues).

okay, well the long story is, i had bought the in january last year, practiced manual in it until i got my P's, drove it for about a month or two until it decided to fail on me, i was on the freeway and my radiator temp gauge was sitting at half way which meant that it was working, until i smelt a strong scent of coolant, so me going at 100km didn't realise that it was my car and assuming it was the car infront, kept driving a bit more and slowed down to realise my engine was steaming, and so i pulled it out on to the side of the freeway and realised that one of the hardpipes behind the engine had cracked and my temp sensor wasn't reading it and so i had towed it back off, did a plenum pull and realised i had water on my drivers side head on top of the piston, which meant i must have done a head gasket, anyway, that was back in october and i had put my car in to storage until now and i'm assuming the engine is absolutely f*cked because i left the engine as is.
and so, i'm planning on just getting a whole new engine and doing a swap rather than sourcing out all the parts i'll need to get!
and i've found the engine, i just need to convince my parents to buy it for me, ahahah! :)

    hahahahah yep, it does! :(
well when i do get my car back from storage, whoever wants to help out can treat themselves to whatever they need from my old engine, i'm sure there's some goodies that people could possibly want, or have for as spares! :)
as for the engine i'm buying, it's coming with a shell too so there possibly be some goodies that whoever wants can take including the shell because i'm only in it for the engine and then i'm scrapping it!

If you have the replacement engine ready to go you could do the complete swap in a day no worries. I pulled 2 NA engines in one day with some help. Only takes a few hours each.
