Hi can I get some insight into fitting test pipes on z32 1990 tt. I am getting installed a set of ams non resonated test pipes. I would like to know will it affect my engine life? Will it stuff up anything to do with the way the car runs? Apparently with these ams test pipes you can still have the O2 sensor connected. Any ideas please?
It will not shorten the engine life, it will render your car illegal & you will be liable to a significant fine if you get caught.

Sorry hold on ? How will it render the car illegal? And 02 sensors are on the dumps not test pipes , they do have a bung on them for wideband sensors.

100% correct there mate they are cats, perhaps with a 3.5" body on them but definitely cats. Note my pictures for test pipes, you can also see the bungs I referred to for wideband O2 sensors. Factory O2 sensors go on dump pipes
Did a check engine light come on when test pipes were fitted? I'm also getting the 3 inch expansion dumps fitted with the 3 inch test pipes to a 2half inch exhaust. Will there be a power increase, better throttle response?
No , no check engine light, And your exhaust will be like mine than except your cats and merge pipe? Power increase =yes, throttle response=not really
Re: "Sorry hold on?" Test pipes are installed to eliminate catalytic converters. Cars driven on roads in Australia must comply to relevant Australian Design Rules for that vehicle. By removing catalytic converters the vehicle will no longer comply with ADR's. The Environment Protection Act 1970 (the Act) requires various parties ? including designers, manufacturers, sellers, owners and drivers ? to do or not do certain things with respect to air and noise emissions from motor vehicles. These requirements are spelt out in more detail in the Environment Protection (Vehicle Emissions) Regulations 2003 (the Regulations). Both the Act and the Regulations state that anyone who fails to comply with a requirement is guilty of an offence and liable to a penalty, with the maximum penalty for the most serious offences being 240 penalty units (over $240,000).
Ok yes that is all true but we both made a big assumption here. Mine- that the Owner was going to cut and shut the cats onto the test pipes. Yours- that he was not going too. But in saying this these test pipes will not allow or compensate room for your catalytic converters so you will have to add them in (cut and shut)
Test pipes don't include catalytic converters. If catalytic converters are "added" afterwards, they are no longer "test pipes".
If we want to get technical! They are still a metal pipe that passes exhaust gas through them. Lets call it a testymidcat pipe Btw east coast Z Not having a dig at you in anyway, but you have really been pushing the ol' copy past button for ADR compliance lately? Recent run in with a canary ?
