    Hey guys

I need a bit of help of what my 300zx is worth.
Here are a few brief details.
91 black auto n/a, Jdm, full electric interior and seats inc passenger, leather 2+2, 150xxx kms, targa top, car is standard with the exception of a new pioneer head unit, car runs like a dream and body is straight with good paint.

    Bad points
Drivers leather seat has opened up
1/2 a front bumper (but in the process of finding a jdm one)
    And that's it

I would love to throw photos on but I'm on my iPhone, so can I send pics to anyone who can upload them.

    Thanks for reading.
    Marty

Fix the front bar and seat and put her on carsales for $10k. Cars off the forum seem to go for reasonable money :p

Ok, my trouble seems to be finding a seat that's not worth an arm and a leg and someone willing to separate a pair

Yeah fix the few things first, n like others say, set it at 10k and let the market decide.... I believe alot of the run down zeds get sold off on here for chips! I would never buy one so cheap! And more of the cleanest examples tend be much loved by their owner and don't get sold. Also by posting it for sale on here will be subjected to soooo many opinions of "that's not worth that much" ect ect and you tend to have to drop the price due to other cars being low in price to sell it! We are our own worst enemy, supra's arnt this cheap and no where near as classic in styling!

I believe in another 20yrs the best examples will remain and should be worth a pretty one IMO

Provided in 20 years modern cars still use internal combustion technology :)

The problem with selling zeds on this forum (I have seen in the past). Somebody has a beautiful example of a zed. Back in the day probably worth $15-$20K anywhere else. However due needing to go overseas, needs it to go ASAP. So whacks on a price of $8K. Everyone is shocked and obviously it gets snapped up.

The next person that tries to sell a similar zed on here puts it up for a reasonable price but has to deal with previous members memories of a beautiful zed that went for $8K. Then gets berated for asking 'too much', 'will never sell at that price' etc. On carsales, people go there when they need to buy a car only. Don't know the people, dont know the cars that have gone before. On close knit forums, despite us being enthusiasts, the depreciation factor here is magnified for the few people that were willing to part with their zed for cheap and the members that have been around long enough to remember

If people want zeds to appreciate in value, people need to stop parting with them for 'pocket change' compared to it's 'real' worth. Zeds used to be something unique and prestigious, but the fact is these days I could buy a really nice one cheaper than a 2nd hand barina or festiva....

    THIS IS THE PROBLEM!
YOU aren't prepared to pay a reasonable price for a good product, yet you are hopefull someone will pay a reasonable price for your sub standard product.

I couldn't give my damn stock seats away when I tried to sell them. They have perfect tweed on them and no foam damage yet no one seems to want them.

There's also full set of late spec velour interior with seats for sale in the trade forum. Going for $550 for the whole set which is a bargain IMO. If I hadn't already retrimmed my interior I would have snapped that mofo up.

What its worth and what you get for it are two different things

So.......What its worth is what someone is prepared to pay for it, bearing in mind the laws of supply and demand (competition).

You need at least one to buy it.
You need only two to have a bid war.

You could on ebay potentially buy a porsche for as little as 4k and then again you could even pay 10k for a piece of nutrigrain that supposedly looks like ET

Dont forget - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - so it often pays to make sure the most important thing - is that it looks tidy.

    Goodluck

I'm prepared to pay mate, but when someone try's to sell me a pair for $1200 I'm going to stand back and think twice. I got a quote for $400 to retrim so I think I will go with that option.

door mounted seat belts? might be better off replacing it all with tweed, sell the electric driver /passenger for someone to retrim to pay for the costs of replacing?

Buying cheaps zeds for parts is different as its often a cheaper option than if the parts wernt on the car.

But of coarse there is a very good reason they are that cheap. Even a very poor condition classic will go cheap, but with a ton of work to be done! The question is why good condition zeds are going cheap for no good reason other than the community driving the price down based on opinions.

In other words keep it stock! Everyone has an opinion of what looks good, but by having a clean as heck stock zed, there is no complaining...... It's what a zed looks like ;)

    Interesting...

When I needed a front drivers seat I rang up Nissan just out of curiousity to see what they would charge....

They wanted a whopping $5000 for one front seat.:eek::eek:

I ended up finding one at wreckers for $150

lol nissan aus. any large part is usually over a grand.

i woulda been happy with $100 for both of my front seats. had no bites at all.

oh well, grand scheme of things lucky i kept them. need to re-register my zed eventually and certainly wouldn't pass with fixed back buckets in there.
