What are you blokes on? My big 'ol aircraft needs a separate switch altogether to 'park' the wipers. Nissan is luxury in comparison!

No not all nissans have the park feature....and for that matter the 350z has not, but parks in one swoop ;) thats what i want

    Is it the park feature
    Or
The extra wipe feature that annoys?

Strange that l never noticed this extra wipe before this thread.
Now I find myself 'slightly' distracted by it :p

I was told the last slow wipe it does was the park feature... On the hwy at 110, I found the wind blowing against the wipers, made them stop mid way, due to lack of power when I tryed to turn them off :( took a few goes lol

Could it be possible the last wipe would be poor if there was something wrong with the "Wiper Amplifier"??

I think the wipers use this amplifier instead of relays.

I am having trouble interpreting this wiring diagram. The motors appear to have 3 components. The only one of which is clear to me is the main motor. It is not clear to me what exactly are the other 2. On the diagram, one looks like a Mercedes logo with a semi quadrant thingy that has the 2 wires (LG/R & G) and this points to ground. The other, in series with G wire, looks like a friggen dog tied by the feet with no head and 2 bums!!! Please explain.

I have not had a change to check signals yet as I have to put a battery in the car etc etc.

Hi, since making my last post in this thread I have had no answers. So can I assume most others are unclear on this issue also?

Nevertheless I have been able to determine that
Must be a circuit breaker as labeled in the main circuit diagram page 1
    http://300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.c...de=1&cycle=off&scale=0&design=default&total=4
Being one of the first components in series with one of the fusible links.

So 2 of the 3 sub components of the wiper motor:

    1. Main Motor
    2. Circuit Breaker

    Is this supposed to be:

    3. Park switch???

The park feature is the extra wipe.

Just quickly, My park feature doesn't work due to the first stage (speed) of the wipers not working. I have posted over the years and everyone said its the time control unit, but I changed it to a known working one and still it doesnt work. Only stage 2 and 3 which is super fast work. Stage one, all I hear is a tick, tick......tick, from where the time control unit is but nothing :(

    Any tips, tricks or ideas?

If wiring is good/standard try the "wiper amplifier".

When you say "known working" are you sure ? many a "known working" part has stumped a repair before.

Wiper amp is the lower one.

    Further to this mass debate.

Try thinking of it as the length Nissan went to to make a refined vehicle, rather than how they ****ed it up, if you do that 99 times out of 100 you will understand that there is a method to the madness.

Not many cars have the sleek lines of the 300ZX even these days, the lower dimensions of the vehicle and tight engine bay and front end meant that getting the wipers to sit very low meant that something extra was required to get the existing technology of the time to do the job.

Next rainy day take note of where the wiper stops between cycles when set to intermittent wipes, its an inch or two above where they park. Other cars with less tight dimensions can have the wiper stop plus or minus an inch and no one notices. If the wiper parked where the intermittent setting does between cycles, you would all be "wtf is wrong with Nissan".

Im sure Nissan was aware of this when they designed it, engineering is a compromise, what would you prefer wipers that stop blocking the glorious view over the bonnet or an extra wipe ?

IMO all things being right the wipers shouldn't chatter on a drying surface, admittedly I have a new windscreen and quality Rain-X beam wiper blades, there are cheap beam style blades, I am not sure if that is the issue, but I am pretty sure anyone that bought the Rain-X blades I was selling is over the moon with the way they work.

    Happy wiping !

It wont be the motor that needs cleaning out. It will be all the joints in the wiper gear arms that are clogged with dirt and crud.

I cleaned and lubed the ones in my red car and the wipers went 1/2 again quicker

Confirmed, they are fantastic! Never make a sound wet or dry. Thanks again

Dorift, the wiper motor components are pretty much as described.

The "BIG M" is the 2 speed wiper motor. The two connections on the bottom are for the two speeds. The top connection goes to a resetteble thermal circuit breaker (the thing that looks like a bent skateboard) which will be housed inside the wiper motor. The "Pacman eating the pizza slice" is the auto park. All auto park systems work by supplying an extra earth to the wiper motor until it drives past its park position. When it gets there, unless it has another path from the wiper switch (ie the wipers are turned on), it loses the auto park earth, and stops.

8300zx9, it sounds like your problem may be within the motor itself, or the connections to it. If the first speed doesn't work, the motor won't start to move, so it won't reach the secondary earth of the autopark system. I suspect you have a crook low speed wiring connection or winding inside the motor. The auto parks usually have a separate earth wire too, as the widscreen motor is usually rubber mounted to make it quieter.

To be on the safe side, I'd recommend you get access to another known working wiper motor (and wiper amp too, if you can), pull yours out, clean and grease all the arm link points as Tekkie suggested, and put the new motor in.

Yeah I will get around to cleaning the motor out, ill dunk it in some shelite and runs some volts through it, this is the method of cleaning ye' ol' brushed motors. And ill clean the joints and such and put fresh grease in.

I also need to clean the tracks, and the Motor whilst im at it, for my side windows too!

I have more pressing issues right now so its on hold ;)

What does this do? and is it replacable?

Just a relay essentially, can it be replaced ? I dont know do you have some beads to trade with at Nissan ? Also give them this 28510-40P00 and somewhere between $250-$300, $80 in the USA.

Or free from your local wrecker.
