That's called turbo flutter or dose, to get that you have to remove whatever is currently fitted and buy some blanking plugs to block off the recirc valve piping.

Aren't most carts (good ones anyway) two stroke? Haven't seen a turboed MX 2 stroke before, lol.

    Solution , sell Zx-

    Buy VL turbo

    Moo Shocking...

    That's not dosing.
That's just turbo flutter from block recircs.. It's bad for your turbo's unless they're surge protected.

Dosing is a gay as hell set up and flutters a lot louder and slower.

they're the same thing dude, sound's just different from the varying turbo intakes/number of turbos

Correct me if I am wrong ? But is "dosing" not a slang term made up to describe compressor surge which in effect is simply excess pressure returning through the turbine blades creating the "chop chop chop" sound ?

I didn't realise there was a set up difference between a "dose" and a compressor surge

as mentioned that is caused by not having a blow off valve.

Altenatively you can use any adjustable blow off valve and set the spring to its firmest setting and you will get mostly flutter.

and also there is no such thing as surge protected for a flutter, anti surge is for cars that get this while spooling, it helps it not happen. nothing to do with a purpose full flutter

As far as I knew, VL's have a custom made "dose" pipe... (Or any car that wants to dose) which changes the intensity of the flutter?
When someone says "I want my turbo to flutter" and "I want my car to dose" you get two completely different reactions lol..
Oh my bad, I thought gtx turbo's surge protection allowed the turbs to make the noise (quieter, obviously), just not damage it because it restricts the flow back through the blades enough.. My bad >.<

I run gtx turbos and I still had compressor surge with a blocked off valve.

Also the "custom pipe" your talking about may be a larger full steel/alloy intake tract As the metal will make louder resonance and length will carry the sound better

That's where I got confused... I thought, since people went out of there way to make a dose pipe and get the flutters noisy that they were two different things. Ya learn something new every day :p

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

"Dosing" and "Flutter" are two distinctly different noises altho they are universally related.
    Heres a good example.
One of my M8's Pullstarts. As an aside, this particular Pullstart produces well in excess of 200 Kw ATW. Its quite an animal altho sounds quite soft.
Just ignore the walkaround and flick thru to 1.40 for fulli siiik hectic flutter/dose!!!

Dosing is extremely difficult to get on a zed MAF efi system tho due to the length of the piping on the inlet side of the turbo. This seems to be the biggest determining factor when chasing dose. Length and diameter of pipe in front of the turbo hence the term "dose pipe"!!!

Flutter is just a rhythmical momentary stalling of the turbo compressor when the throttle body is suddenly shut off. Dosing accompanies the flutter at the same frequency!!!
The speed and intensity of the flutter is influenced by a big variety of factors too numerous to bother listing and there are few hard and fast rules to produce a particular sound. Arriving at a particular sound seems fairly hit and miss affair.
My turbo Pullstart has a massive 600 x 300 x 75 intercooler with large cast end tanks and many meters of 2.5" piping which by all accounts should produce a big flutter! All it does is a very high speed sort of chatter (vroom..ts.ts.ts.ts.t.t.t.t) and only at light throttles as the BOV opens on harder throttle offs.

My M8's Pullstart uses a much smaller 300 x 300 cooler with much shorter 3" piping and delivers a whopping "vroom.. CHOO..CHOO..Choo..choo.ch.ch.ch" flutter/dose every gearchange.

However, ANY fluttering indicates undesireable conditions in the compressor with stalled and surging conditions resulting in large and uneven loadings across the wheel.
How bad this activity actually is is debateable but manufacturers do recognise this and sometimes fit BOV's as a precautionary measure.

    have fun bro

Check this thread out here, "dose pipe" is cousin****er slang for turbo intake pipe.
