Unless I putt around like a grandma , my clutch will smell from driving spiritedly . Im not talking reving the guts out or burnouts just a little more than grandma style .

    Is this common ?

BTW brand new F1 Stage 2 clutch .

Could be caused by a new clutch plate "bedding in", or more likely 'out of adjustment/slipping'.
You don't drive with your foot resting on the Clutch pedal, do you?
Don't laugh, I've seen several people that do(and on a finely adjusted clutch, that can produce 'slipping').

Kak, my F1 Stage 2 does the exact same thing.
Yep, those kevlar reinforced organic plates stink after even moderate use and will continue to stink.
You will also find when slipping the clutch to get into a tight spot the clutch will also make a strange wizzing sound that gets louder the the hotter the facings get.

    Drive on!

Sounds like an adjustment issue. It shouldn't smell under normal driving conditions.

Errrmm, I think I made it fairly clear that the smell is quite normal.
I use 2 of these clutches, one in the turbo Pullstart and other in the Ute and they both smell on even just moderate launches or slipping into tight uphill spots.
They both did it from brand new and both clutches have had many miles and the ute in particular, has had a lot of work manouvering the trailers on sloping land I have. Its a bit disturbing at first.
I can assure you beyond ANY doubt that both my clutches are adjusted correctly and not slipping. Otherwise Im faily sure Id have a burning smell and a revving motor on high boost/load...No?

    Drive on Kak!

Its easy to check anyway isnt it......

All you have to do is get under the car and check the clutch leaver has a few mm's of play between the leaver and the slave.

If there isnt any play and its TIGHT against the slave, or it moves more than 3-4mm, it needs the pedal adjusted.

Hehehehe nawww. Too tight needs the slave pushrod adjusted as the slave piston is bottomed !!!!!
Too loose and there is a serious problem as the pedal rod is too long not allowing the MC to "recouperate" and the slave piston to relax by itself!!!

Mine stunk, they supplied the wrong throw out bearing, clutch was near on always engaged and ate itself to bits with two months. Did you get a Nissan oem throw out bearing or use theirs?

Your last comment is just what I said........................

Saying "they all stink" is overly simplistic. How exactly do you know it is adjusted properly from a post on a forum?

Well, have a bit of a think about it. His problem occurs when tooling around. "Little more than grandma" is the term Kak uses.
He makes no mention of thrashing it, in fact clearly states hes not thrashing it in which case a burning clutch smell after a 7000rpm wide open throttle launch is quite normal for any organic lining.
Almost all clutch adjustment issues (resulting in riding release bearings) will rear their ugly heads under thrash conditions and result in burnt facings no? Then they ALL stink!
Under adjustment with excessive release rod/release arm clearance simply resulots in insufficient release movement and either a very "long" pedal and/or difficulty in engaging gears when stationary.

OK, "they all stink" may be a little too broad if one feels the need to be extra pedantic. Perhaps i should alter that statement to "All F1 racing Components Stage 2 Kevlar reinforced organic clutch plates stink" to be clearer to all.

If a clutch release bearing were to riding so hard as to be slipping when just normal tooling then I think Kak would be smart enough to know/mention this.

Bottom line is that 3 examples of this exact clutch smell remarkably strongly during ordinary driving.
2 of those clutches are known, beyond any doubt, to be adjusted correctly. Because they are mine.
One is a 200mm diameter cable operated clutch. The other is a TT clutch (245mm??IIRC) They were bought some 18 months apart and marketed as "F1 racing Components Stage 2. They both behave exactly the same and smell exactly the same when they get heated up under ordinary slipping circumstances.
Theres a reasonable, if not good chance most of the exact same organic facings will do the same.

Yep ... believe it or not this is not my first build or first clutch :p ;)

I did wind the pedal bolt all the way out which caused slipping . Then wound back in which fixed it . But this was only to work out how much travel I can find in the pedal due to the wife being used to driving a manual commodore :p

So now the clutch begins to engage an inch and a bit from the floor .
