Depends if you want cheap or good? I was charged less than $600 for the labour (thermostat thrown in) for the timing belt and water pump fitted at P&M in Cleveland. When I handed over the parts that I had already purchased, they commented "oh good the timing belt is pre-marked" so wonder if that means something about the belts they normally use? If they take a bit longer to do the work, it just means the car is sitting there waiting to be checked by the head guy. I was quoted $600 but charged less.
I'll certainly backup this recommendation for P&M at Capalaba. Wally & Donna had owned, fixed & worked on more Z32's than anyone on this forum - even way back at 2001! They & they're pals would have forgotten more than most know about these cars. No exaggeration, paint / panel / fix-my-Z, go see P&M at Capalaba!
If you arent in any hurry, why not jack the front up and have a go yourself? The guide in the Tech Section is excellent and if you are only changing the timing belt and water pump its really no biggy at all. That's if you have the tools, otherwise best to take it to the shop to save the headaches.
Thanks all. I wrote this prior to hearing about Eric at A2Zed. I might just sit tight and see what transpires there. That being said I'll further investigate your Capalaba suggestion.
I can't see him re-opening anytime in the near future. We cleared the workshop out last weekend so I would suggest looking for alternatives.
