    Hi all,

My car was off the road for about 12 months - been too busy to drive it, and I?ve been doing everything to get it back up and running. Took it for a drive and the tail shaft centre bearing was jumping up and down like crazy. Had a look underneath and it was pretty much non existent. Changed it and there is still a shudder that feels to be coming from that same spot...

Any ideas? Could i have done something wrong whilst changing the centre bearing?

    Thanks,
    Pete

You could have rotated the shaft halves. They were balanced in the position they were originally assembled. If you say put them together 180 degrees to what they used to be you will get vibration.

Get a one piece and get rid of vibrations. Once you start playing with the center bearing, you seldom get it right again.

marked it all out before i started so i wouldn't flip it by accident...

Then your uni's are probably stuffed from having a broken centre bearing for a while. Happened to me.

I agree with both Crispy and Stef in this diagnosis. As a longtime one-piece tailshaft user, there is no better solution for future trouble-free driving.:zlove:

Given that GYPO has already mentioned that he marked the items prior to dis-assembly, my money is on your "spacer" theory.:zlove:
