stevearm77 NA Compression + TT Boost

Ok about to embark on a high compression low boost build using na pistons in my tt engine & looking at around maybe 10psi boost max. Water/alcohol injection will be used to kill detonation however tuning for this build is where I need advice.

I do already have nistune installed, would I be able to successfully run a stock na tune (correcting injector size etc.) without too much drama until I can obtain a custom tune or does anyone have a tune that would be more suitable?

Also, with water/alcohol injection, is there really still a need to run intercoolers with 10-12psi max?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Won't need intercoolers with water/meth injection.

Eric may be able to give you a suitable tune to get you going. I wouldn't be keen to use a NA tune for this application.

Nem mentioned one of the guys on here got away with running a stock tt tune on his +tt build, not sure how much boost he ran though.

You'll probably have to run a tt tune with modified timing maps.

    Sounds interesting.

I know a guy who used to drag race a monster along these lines

    S13 Silvia
RB20DET using RB20DE with DET turbo setup, boost at 14psi
Standard intercooler, no special fuel or additives, just pump gas

Ran for more than a season drag racing, used it as a daily driver too, no problems - he did it to prove if you don't be a d!ck about it, you can still run boost on a NA engine.

Yeah trying to make something good & interesting out of yet another bad situation with my TT. It should make for some awesome bottom end power.

Few places i took my car to said i should be able to run a fair amount of boost on a stock TT tune with WMI.

Fit TT piston pins while you have it apart, quite a bit stronger than NA pins. Other than that, wmi will let you run more boost than what your looking for. If you are a bit tight on funds, use a complete na rotator to save money on balancing etc.

im goin de+tt in a few weeks cant wait for it, the amount of responce you will gain, you should speak to a tuner about goin on e85, burns cooler and you can push your motor harder in the tune
