Idle problems and intermittent smoke

Hey everyone, as you have probably read, I had a new engine put into my Zed recently. This new ones compression came back between 140-150 on all cylinders bar 1 which was 135.

Anyway, the ECU is a haltech E11V2 and it's running really rich and only on 6psi. It will be getting tuned this week, but I want to sort out some issues before it goes for a tune.

Since this new engine has been in, it intermittently blows smoke out of the exhaust. There is a catch can installed on the engine, could this be contributing to this? I doubt it's blow by because of the compression test results.

Another problem I have is that it doesn't idle well, but the last engine didn't, either. It will fluctuate between 500 and 1000 rpm and if I give it a rev, it will almost stall when it comes back down before returning to a regular idle speed.

Sometimes if I'm driving sedately and take too long with the clutch in, the car even stalls and obviously re starts when the clutch is engaged.

Do you guys think this could be due to the tune being rich and "safe"?

Here is a copy of the current AFR's:

As I said, the car is going in for a tune but I don't want to have any loose ends before it does go in. I am fairly certain the issues are due to the current tune but if there is anything I could check, it would be handy.

    Any advice is appreciated!

Hi, regarding the idling problem. I dont believe it has anything to do with the tune.

One of the most common problems is a dirty throttlebody. If you open it right up like this:

and use some degreaser to scrub and clean inside it should fix the problem. Usually this will work.. Other times you may need to replace the throttlebody

But this is only one out of many problems which could cause the idling problem... I guess you need to trial and error. But definantly give it a shot

Idle control might not be correctly setup in the haltech and probably requires adjustment by the tuner.

Regardless of what the Dyno sheets show, drivability with the current tune is terrible and was with the old engine as well. As I said, get it tuned properly and it will be a whole different car.

Thanks mate, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything I could do before taking it in.

That is a horrible, horrinle looking graph.

Might have to stay that way for a while... The tune is going to be $$

also pays to check the idle control valves at the back of the plenum. It is possible for them to sieze and that results in them not doing their job and controlling the idle air flow. I have had 2 of them seized in the past on different plenums. (these would be the inner most valves the control cold start). Look on theis page >> http://www.zedcare.com/sensorspecs.html at the air regulator. I found it quite eay to disassemble clean up and pit back together. I have also pulled the IACV apart before and while it may be causing issues I have never found this one siezed. I dont believe it would have the same impact.
